$100k+ for this car. i think it might be a little bit over priced. even if it comes with a v10 and 500hp.
if this car is meant to compete with the next NSX, then $100k is over the limit for a japanese car. i can say that $80k is more than reasonable for any "exotic" sports car not made in italy.
true.. for 100K ppl want someting that is not that typical. like FR... with V10? ferrari 550 didnt sell as much as the lower MR.. 360 modena. and how bout viper and vette?? damn didnt realized both have V in front of the name... heheh 50K-80K... and if this "new" car is not tested and proven to be better than the 50K vette or the 80K viper.. why did they sell it around 100K??
I still have all the doubts in the world about Toyota. It's not that they can't make the supra its that they wont. The management there are people in their 60's+ and as such decide on those vehicles that suit their generation (i.e. oldsmobile customers). They took away the celica and MR2 so why now, 6 years after the rumors started, should we now ever believe they all of a sudden would actually produce and sell a competetive vehicle.
they took away those vehicles because
1) the celica was a big step down in performance as compared to the competition. sure when it hit the streets, it was a great competitior w/ its sole competition, the GSR which was the undisputed benchmark from sports compact @ the time, but they thing that they didn't take into consideration...the teamed w/ yamaha to build that engine, and produced that chassis to compete w/ the gsr, a 6 year old model/chassis. Knowing damn well that honda was going to redesign and make something more robust. If anyone doesn' tknow, the originally dc2 chassis was built as a compact first, then basically made into an R variant later. But the dc5 was built w/ the concept of a R in mind, which is why the chassis/motor combo is so much better than the dc2 (which is what they say, i still prefer the 4 wheel double wishbone)
2) the mrs...thats a joke if i ever heard one. 0.9 cubic feet of storage space. a weak 140 hp motor...i mean, sure its a great auto x car. But a 350z, s2000, even an rx8 (and this car is a dissapointment and a half) it is not.

I'm not even going ot beat around the bush with this. 50% of the people on this board dont know their asses from a hole in the ground and it pisses me off sometimes..
What i want to know is y toyota is going to jump on the bandwagon like everyone else and give the new supra some weak v6. The previous motor (2JZGTE) is arguably one of the strongest most efficient motors ever made......thats y the mkiv supra is so timeless and still pulls a hefty price tag regardless of mileage. Dont their R&D people know this?
If they ever have the nerve to bring out some weak 250hp v6 supra to compete with the Z for around 30K........i would think real enthusiasts would rather spend a lil less and get an MKIV supra to boost to their heart's content and own all those "new" variations of the cars we used to love.
people saying that toyota execs killed the celica and the mr2 just cause they are old...
the top guys arnt any older than in the top guys were in the 80's when they created the supra and the MR2. The things just wernt selling. if toyota made money on them they wouldnt kill them. but i think the mrs was selling something like 2000 units a year.
If it was up to me i'd bring back a real mr2. A turbo pushing at least 200 ponies, coming from the rear. They should aim as an afordible elise. With all the hubub that the elise is causing they should ride that wave. of course i may be biased. i'm getting my mr2 by next month.

dats why toyota need scion.. most toyota models are for old folks..they used to have fast corolla GTS FR the early gen celica was also FR then it evolve to AWD in many part of the world. then they also have Supra as their muscle car and MR-2 as their affordable performance car its a mini NSX. now they have almost NIL.....the older buyers move on to SUV while the younger one doesnt get any young good lookin and fast cars.. they tried with the current celica MR-S and Matrix. but it doesn pack enough power and compete with the competitions.. it looks like honda sooin goin to follow unless they introduce fast young car again.
Contrary to rumors, Toyota's Supra replacement will in no way, shape or form, bear any resemblance to the Giugiaro-designed Volta concept which appeared in Geneva last March. Toyota does, however, plan on delivering a high-performance sports car along the lines of the departed Supra some time between the end of 2006 and 2007. This two-door, front-engine, rear-wheel-drive sport coupe might be built on an all-new platform, although it's expected that Lexus will not build its own variation. Toyota's luxury subsidiary will instead build its own supercar based on the LF-A concept shown at this year's Detroit auto show. The car will probably be priced from around $30,000 and some sort of prototype could very likely debut at the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show

i think toyota will bring out the supra, because it is a known name. the Lexus LF-A is nearly the same as the 07 supra, but the LF-A is a concept, it might not come out into the lineup. So, im pretty sure it's a supra
