Honda's new FR-V, a compact MPV with 3+3 seating, will start at £14,750 when it goes on sale in November. Promising 'fantastic quality' and 'a high equipment tally,' it will initially feature 1.7 and 2.0-litre petrol engines, though the excellent 2.2-litre turbo-diesel from the Accord will join the list later.
Combined with the two petrol engines are two spec levels, making a total of three models available from launch. These are:
1.7 SE - £14,750, insurance group 9
2.0 SE - £15,700, insurance group 11
2.0 Sport - £16,400, insurance group 12
Honda promises high standards of ride and handling from the FR-V, which is based on a version of the CR-V platform. Its party piece is its three-abreast seating, with sliding and folding centre seats front and rear, but it has plenty of other equipment besides:
Climate control
Front, side and curtain airbags
Three ISOFIX mountings
Trip computer
CAT 1 alarm
Sport models add:
Alloy wheels
Cruise control
Front fog lamps
