okay, i just got back from SEMA show 2004 and at the toyo booth ken gushi was there and they had a press conference and revealed his new drift car...which happens to be a new 2005? mustang, (the new ones...)
anyways by far it was one of the ugliest cars in the drift culture...i also asked him if he really liked this car and he was like awww...its ok..and he told me he would WAY rather have his s13 back but i just dont agree that they shouldve gave him that car for drift...IMO...comment and tell me what u thinkl...do u think its weird to have al these domestic cars in a japanese sport like this ??
im just curious of what u think...
this isnt ken gushi's but they are starting to make these mustangs all j-spec now ?? i dont get it...ill post pics of ken gushi's car once i get pics of them because they just revealed the car at like at 2:00 p.m. today.
The new mustangs aren't that bad, honestly I think it's one of the better looking mustangs they put out in a long time. Ken can drift with any car he wants (or have too), drifting isn't a import thing only. Drifting isn't just an japanese sport, americans have been doing it since the days of leaded gas, it's the japanese that have brought it into the mainstream. I would be more interested in how well that car is going to drift than what or who makes it.
honestly, to me i would much rather see a japanese car be drifting than a mustang or a viper...imo i know ken will drift the shyt out of this car and i just dont se it being a nice car for drift...i think of it as more of a drag car..

Do you think its weird for japanese trucks to be in NASCAR? From what I know, drifting has its origins in Japan and not the U.S., therefore most domestic car companies and car enthusiasts do not care about the sport. I guess until recently, the sport has been dormant in the US. Now thats its coming around Americans are wanting to see domestic cars such as the Mustang, Viper and Corvette enter these contests.
Personally if were entering a drifting event, i'd rather have an American V8 car because of the low end torque the engines typically generate. No worries about waiting on some damn turbo to kick in either when you can have roughly the same hp with a naturally aspirated V8. IMO the Viper and 'Vette would dominate the circuits after proper testing and tuning.

The Tundra is built in the US and meets the super strict nascar rules.
No other V8 will do?
Someone has boost issues.
'Yota had to go to great lengths to get into NASCAR CTS. They didn't have plant to make cast iron blocks if I recall correctly. I dont know if you would call NASCAR rules all that strict. The engines are pretty simple. The only major aluminum parts allowed are heads and intake.
Yes other V8's will work, but American V8's are known for V8's just like the Japanese are known for their I-4s and V6's and the Europeans for V10's and V12's.
Why have a boosted engine when you can make similar power naturally aspirated?
why on earth is that mustang sponsored with with JDM companies? i would have at least expected it to have US only sponsors, maybe goodyear, flowmaster, etc...but to brand it with Falken and Tien to me it's like having a chevy nascar sponsored by HKS and Cusco. very strange.
