Nissan North America taps Toyota exec to lead quality

Nissan North America Inc. has named Douglas Betts as its vice president of quality for its North American operations.
Betts formerly served as general manager of quality at Toyota's plants in Princeton, Ind.

Betts has been with Toyota since 1997 and was responsible for all quality-related activities, including quality engineering, supplier quality assurance and inspection operations. Prior to his work at Toyota, Doug held management positions in production and quality for Michelin North America, Inc.

Nissan first established its manufacturing presence in the United States in 1980 with its production facilities in Smyrna, where it now makes its Maxima sedans and Xterra sport utility vehicles, Frontier pickups, Altima sedans and its Pathfinder mid-size SUV. In Decherd, Tenn., the company builds engines for all U.S.-produced Nissan and Infiniti vehicles and assembles transaxles

man I hope nissan will build better quality cars now. I had about 3 recalls done on my sentra so far. I really had any problem but I hope it gets better.

Man.. Nissan and Toyota have been really close lately..

They gonna share same electrically stuff
Toyota share their hybrid tech with Nissan
And now Nissan gonna have toyota quality specialist.

nissan's turn around was great. but i think that the turn around was faster than what the company can handle. in their haste to produce more cars to meet the new demand, they forgot about quality.

if you cant beat em, join em.

lets see mitsubishi try to join Honda. hahaha

well mitsu really need help rite now....from all the japanese company the weakest one is now mitsu.. but is honda willing or capable in helpin mitsu??
well in japan mistu workers alreadi been hired by toyota to keep up with the skyrocketing demand..

well mistu doesnt really have what honda really lack of...maybe some big bus or truck...but SUV.. honda alreadi have her own.. 4wd car onli RL and JDM accord... but real serious off road vehicles honda doesnt have one.

i think the core problem with mitsubishi was with the upper management. they lacked the control, strategy, and methods to properly evolve the company. i think the new designs of the mitsubishi is hideous.

mitsubishi can help honda with Turbo charged cars. hehe

id like to see that more then a saturn merger
