"There are times, however, and this is one of them, when even being right feels wrong. What do you say, for instance, about a generation that has been taught that rain is poison and sex is death? If making love might be fatal and if a cool spring breeze on any summer afternoon can turn a crystal blue lake into a puddle of black poison right in front of your eyes, there is not much left except TV and relentless masturbation. It's a strange world. Some people get rich and others eat shit and die."
—Gonzo Papers, Vol. 2: Generation of Swine: Tales of Shame and Degradation in the '80s, 1988
Gushi won that event. :clap I think that guy buses dishes at Tokyo Lobby (a local eatery here in SoCal) as a daily job. So much for the flashy life of a high profile US drifter.
Drifting is the country’s newest motorsport, and most of the fans are the same enthusiasts who think it’s cool to spend 50 grand hopping up a Honda Civic that—even when modified—can’t outrun a Corvette.
yo, they wrote that shit on that fukin site, thats booshit, i seen a 97 or civic hatch dust a c5 then stay toe to toe until the c5 got to the top of 3rd and into fourth...so that booshit cus a swap-which was all he had --ls vtec cams and such--so wit 50 grand, that mofo EXAGErATin(sp) fuk him fuk them, fuk dat
yea. people ruined it in that thread.
we did have a good arguments though; whether domestic car will be a good drift cars.
yea i remember that thread...i think i put a statemnt in there, but for the sake of that topic, i think it makes no difference domestic or not, rwd is rwd, dats all u need, so everythin elses u goin to basicallly change it out uself or is up to the driver, sure u might wnt a car thats lite or heavy or watever u may prefer, but the rwd part is never goin to change.
I heard the japanese where kinda dissapointed, when they came over here and found us drifting the same cars they had.. they where expecting muscle cars...

No.
People like Moto P from Club4AG have been inviting people over from Japan specifically for drifting for many years. Usually it was to support his group of enthuiasts and they're Corolla fans. In fact they had to adapt their styles to US auto-x events since there was no organized drifting or gymkhana events for them to compete in.
Other peeps like MotoRex or Signal Auto are trying build their clientele through what they know best: JDM cars and japanese car culture.
IMO it's more credit to the USDM peeps that they can adapt and successfully compete w/ machinery they're bascially pioneering as far as drifting is concerned.

the author of the article is refering to Ricers, not Tuners. A ricer is a punk kid with altezzas, big ass wing, stickers and thinks hes fast. A tuner knows how what to do to make the most out of their econobox sedan. i hate ricers but i have much respect for tuners
