interestingly enough, if you guys played gran turismo 4, and go to toyota, you will see the volt - nothing more than a vibe but with toyota badging...

odd... you'd think toyota japan would have sold what we had here as the matrix.

Ok, I'm confused- (although I've never played GT4, so I can't really comment there) the Toyota Matrix and Pontiac Vibe are both sold here in the USA.

hobe,

yeah... it appears that of the twins, jdm land only got the vibe with toyota badges...

not the way that would seem to make more sense: the matrix, with the same toyota badging that we got in usdm land...

Just to prove some point, here's the total number of Vibe and Matrix sold by 2007.

Pontiac Vibe retail 10,676
Toyota Matrix retail 16,284

There you go, I omit the fleet sales, Toyota one ups Pontiac. I don't really care much for Pontiac, but Subaru means a little something in the Japanese auto scene, a blip but still something. The heated rivalry with Mitsubishi, the everything AWD (not all though, but the perception is there), the wacky styling, the everything that made Subaru... Subaru. I wonder why Subaru agreed with this project from the start. Even more so... Why the heck Subaru let Toyota bought their shares?

As I recall, the Matrix was rated more favorably in the craptastic "reliability" rankings, too. I guess those Toyota badges are as powerful as the Type R badges morons slap on their Civics.

Methinks there are too many Toyota fanbois out there in the world that need a good bitch-slapping.
