4wd or 2wd

Just got a 2008 CRV EX-L (not Nav). How can I tell if it is a 4 wd real time or a 2wd, nothing on the invoice or in the manual? Thanks.

Got it. With the LX 4WD it is an option. All other models are 4WD Real Time.

AWD or 2WD is on every model, the LX, EX or EX-L. The AWD is not a standard on any of the models. I have the 08 EX AWD.


How can you tell? If it is AWD, it will have a sticker on the back right under the windsheild wiper saying AWD.

Thanks. My sticker is definitely 4WD not AWD. What's the difference? I'm in Canada - different terminology?
All our dealers websites only show 4WD on other than the LX.

Guess we have more snow and ice. lol

Nevermind it says 4wd, not awd. There is supposed to be a difference the two but I dont know.

The 4wd/awd that Honda has is different from other brands. There are no locks or button that you can press to make the it turn on. The system only turns on when the front wheel slips. So in most case, it will be on for only a few sec, and once the front wheel grips, it will turn off. It is not design to be on all the time while you drive. This way it save more gas because the system is not always on.

Is this designe for extreme off-road? No you can't climb rock or anything like that like a Hummer H1. But it does do a petty good job in snow, rain, dirt and other conditions like that. When the system kicks in, you will know it.
