what do u all think of the 1996 2.2 CL? i believe they came with the F22B1 engines. sohc vtec

my friend has one and she is looking to add some mods. do they handle turbo's well? what do they run? any info would be appreciated. she currently has an intake and exhaust.

Yea those 2.2 CL's have the F22B1 Accord motor. If you look at the exterior, its an Accord coupe with stylish headlights and tail lamps. The interior is identical to the the Accord with dashwood trim and acura badges. It's all Accord though.....with Acura accents.

didn't they start making 2.2 cl's in 97? or was it 96? i can't remember, but i got a 97....

you're forgeting the crease dow the side of the car, just above the door handle, the body is much more sleak than that of an Accord.....the inside is exactly the same though, and under the hood.

All the paneling is different, interior is an accord. My CL was made in 96, but it is a 97 model year.

yeah, i have a 97 2.2cl....they are waaaaaaaay better looking than accords....

to the guy that made this thread, you can turbo charge them....just make sure you get the proper engine internal replacements and that you get a good intercooler and all that extra shit....does she have a stick shift or an automatic? if she's got an automatic, i think she should just say fuck it...if she's got a stick, then tell her to drop in a h22....and then turbo that bad boy...i hope my ramblings helped a little...

The model year the CL came out was 1997, so there's no 96.

Well yea, like I said, its all Accod because it spawned off the design and addes Acura accents. Sorry if I didn't mention any of the other smaller details inside

ok yea, 97 whatever, its not my car. and its stick shift, what engine interals is she going to have to change if she wants to turbo it? i already explained to her that she should swap the engine for an H22 but nooooooooooo

It already has a fairly low compression (8.8:1) so she doesnt have to change any internals unless she is planning on pushing 15lbs.

yes you can turbo it.....i did it and it lasted for about 2 weeks...but there is a guy on www.Acura-cl.com who was successful with turboing the stock motor he has 260whp...
now i have an h22 swap and it's turboed ..hence my name "d98clturbo"

i'm on that site too.....they got a lot of people that know a shit load about CL's.....you'll find a lot more usefull info about CL's on there than you will on here....just cause that board is all about CL's....
