I had recently went to a Acura dealership and got to see new type s and I think that is really looks nice, especially the black inner housing lights and the half red/half clear taillights and of course the 6 speed tranny. I have never really cared for the cl's but the new one really makes me think on whether I still want the IS or the CL...considering there both about the same price!!
What do you guys think, so you guys regret getting the '97-99?

Yeah I agree that the CLS 6-sp is a better buy. Price wise it's pretty competetive too. Lexus is less willing to sell plus they have no options when they give you the price quote. Everything on the IS300 is an option and packages for a comparable one make it out to be about 33K. I'm picking up my CLS 6-sp on thursday for 27800 ($200 below invoice). Test drive them both I tihnk they're both fun cars but

whoops didn't get to finish... they're both fun cars BUT the price is mainly the difference. The CL does have a lot more power than the IS300 and the 6-speed is a rave to drive. Try them for yourself though and beware the optiosn prices on the IS.
hey CLS 6-sp, how much did you buy yours for?
CLS w/6spd is NICE. Shifter has good feel and 0-60 in 6.1 sec. Throw on some headers, intake, and exhaust and ur looking at 5.8 sec times. Of course, I'm sure u know about all the amenities the CL has.

I just picked up a black CL type-s 6-spd yesterday. OMG it's so much fun and I have even pushed it hard yet... I think if you drive on you'll love it ...
We got the six speed a few weeks ago! It's a blast!!!! Aegean Blue with Black leather... mmmm mmm mmm... I stay out of it as much as I can since I KNOW there's a speeding ticket destined for me when I blow by some cop going WAY over the speed limit in the new baby!!!
I just purchased my CL-type S after driving a '91CRXsi for 11yrs. Love having so much power at my disposal! And with the A/C on!
The 6speed is what sold me on the car. Not too many cars of that size and with that much power available with a 6speed.
Want to enhance the sound system, tint out the windows and put on some 18" wheels.
I dont see to many performance mods available for the CLs...not that they need much help. Anyone know of any website or company that specializes in CL performance?
this is all good info - I test drove the CL Type S 6sp last weekend and as soon as my lemon law goes through on my 2002 Sentra SpecV I'm gettin the CL -

you shouldn't completely leave out the Lexus IS. if you got the money, you can turbo the is. and also the 2jz-ge has lots of potential. and if you really got the $$$$ swap in a 2jz-gte(supra tt).
1. CL-S has a moe refined baller look to it. Extrem pimpability
2. 6speed over 5 speed
3. Faster
4. Cheaper
5. IS300 is like a tampon every pussy has 1.
Cant loose with the acura. Way better car. If aything have you thought about getting the nw 300zx? Looks sweet as fuck still cheaper then the is and you get better hadeling and better 1/4 mile times. Not telling you to get it but take it fora spin andsee how you like it. Its 6speed manual to.
friend of mine has the 2k3 auto w/ trip. sweet as hell. car all around is amazing. so far he got aem cai w/ bypass, comptech springs and some phatty ass 18 neepers wrapped in pzero's. he loves it. just recently bought some stoptech rotors and lines, but hasn't thrown them in yet. lot more companies are realizing the potential in the car and are putting out lots of stuff. comptech is making a sc, and already has the headers which are really expensive (vicinity of $1300 w/o labor!). they offer an axle back exhaust too. greddy makes an evolution exhaust too not sure if axle or cat. and the seats, man do they hold you in good! can't think of anything bad about the car. go for it!!!
