Please help with '97 3.0 CL transmission

I'm home on vacation and my mom is having problems with her CL's automatic transmission, I would help her out with it but unfortunately I don't know much about transmissions. The car was taken to the mechanic twice already and over $700 have been spent trying to fix it, here is the situation: About two years ago my mom claims that during an argument my sister put the car in "park" while the car was in motion, I thought that was not possible but I wasn't there so I cannot deny that's what actually hapened. Recently the car started making a rattling noise and when my mother took it to the mechanic they told her that it was the bearings in the differential (I asume she means the LSD) and the piece that holds all the bearings was bent and broken (I actually saw it) and they replaced it and the mechanic "raised the pressure", now the car is jumping agressively when it shifts, this happens when the car is driven cold and it's not as bad when it warms up, also it revs up and it doesn't shift until about 3 seconds after applying the gas, this is also mostly when cold, but could this have nothing to do with the LSD?. My mom is taking it to the mechanic again tomorrow but she's not gonna let them charge her for it so they may not do anything to fix it, I'd appreciate any help from the people that know anything about this.

it could be a failure in the torque converter or the atf needs to be changed. try changing the atf w/ some redline or royal purple synth atf and see if it helps any....it's kinda expensive though @ $8/qt

I don't know much about the tranny's either, but I do know two things for a fact:

1. 1997 CL transmissions are weak and get messed up easily,

and unfortunately...

2. You can in fact put the car in park while it is still moving.

All of the 97-99 CL, TL, and TL type s, have faulty transmissions. If the mechanic that worked on your mom's car said the differential bearings were at fault and replaced them, he/she may have voided the "extended" warranty on the transmission if you are the original owner. Accord V6 owners had the same recall extension. If you go to the Acura dealership they would have replaced the transmission with remanufactured trans and replaced the PCM with the correct shift points necessary for the vehicle. If $700 worth of work has been done to the trans it may have voided the warranty, or if you are not the original owner, you may have to source a remanufactured V6 trans.

I have a 97 3.0 cl. The transmission is messed up on mine also. I had the whole thing rebuilt, twice. The second time was under warranty. The valves are sticking in mine, causing it to neutral out between gears. It also takes a while for it to shift back into first when you stop. It jerks the car forward when it does. My car only does it when its cold also. They serviced the transmission because they can no longer fix the valves without replacing the whole valve body. It runs much smoother than it used to. They used some additive in the fluid that had teflon in it to help fill in the scars on the valves. In order to fix mine completely im going to have to replace the whole tranny with a working valve body. Your symptoms sounded really close to mine, thought I'd try to help.
