New PS Store In Motion (sexy)
PlayStation.Blog » Firmware (v.2.30) Details and Store Walkthrough
SO much better than the web based app. VERY sleek, and the preview feature = WIN.

Just saw this on joystiq... or was it kotaku? No less, the interface does look a bit easier to nav. I just hope that with the update, we'll get lots of stuff like home beta and lots of demos .

Home beta is rumored, but the stuff (as far as I know) that is confirmed is the MGO beta and GT5P, and some new Rockband Content. There's also the CoD maps, and soon after that Burnout Paradise will receive an update.
Also, Sony dropped the memory footprint for the OS, so custom soundtracks should be hitting Burnout Paradise and Call of Duty 4 sometime in coming months.
Also expansions for Pixel Junk Monsters, Warhawk, and Ratchet and Clank will hit between now and July.
Lastly, we can expect to see Wipeout: HD, a Lair patch (analog controls), Socom: Confrontation, and a LittleBigPlanet beta between July and September.

Why does that not surprise me. Rockband and GH3 are annoyingly popular. At least the new catigorizations mean I don't have to sift through RB/GH3 stuff as much.
LBP is the BIG one I'm waiting for. Even more than MGO, if you can believe that. :-p

PS3 Firmware 2.30 Enhances Audio, Introduces New PlayStation Store
Invites have already been sent for the Home beta, correct?
Here's an article on the update/new store:
PS3 Firmware 2.30 Enhances Audio, Introduces New PlayStation Store
The latest system software features technologies from DTS that improve the Blu-ray audio playback on the PS3 in addition to updating the PlayStation Store.
Posted by David Radd on Thursday, April 10, 2008
Sony Computer Entertainment America announced today that the PS3 will be receiving a new system update next week. This new system software will add DTS-HD Master Audio and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio support. These enhancements will grant PS3 users a more high quality Blu-ray movie experience (for those who have the proper equipment to decode the audio).
Additionally, the PS3 firmware update v. 2.30 will give PS3 owners access to the improved PlayStation Store. The PlayStation store is transitioning from an integrated online storefront to a native application on PS3. This will allow customers to more efficiently download games, demos, videos, movie trailers and other content for PS3.

Invites aren't sent out, per se.
Members of GAP and a *few* select members have seen the Home Beta appear on their store, and that's the short and sweet of how it happens. GAP members get an email saying they can participate, but for everyone else, it just appears.

I know that GAP is invite only. I'm not trying to kiss anyone ass to get in or anything but, what exactly is it that GAP does? Are they essentially the first to know on all things Playstation and the first to get dibs on betas? Is there more or less to it than that?

GAP is essentially a group of randomly selected members who have been in the Playstation Underground for a while. The best way to 'increase' your chances of membership are to register your hardware and software.
basically, you'll take place in exclusive beta's, special survey's (that actually see application) and many more things that are related to the playstation brand. It's a really cool thing to get into.

Hmm... surveys that actually make a difference? Sounds too good to be true. LOL. That's cool though. I thought I had an underground account previously but, I couldnt remember it so I made a new account a few months ago. I cant keep up with discussion on there though. Too many members. :-p

April 10, 2008 - One of the biggest complaints about Factor 5's PlayStation 3 debut title appears to have been addressed. Sony Japan provided first details today on a free update for Lair, and included in the bullet points is the option for analog controls!
The update will also offer the ability to show a targeting icon, and Dual Shock 3 rumble support.
Sony is making a few additional downloads available for the game as well. Lair owners will be able to download the Wind Dragon and Poison Dragon for use in all stages. All PS3 owners will have access to a couple of themes which can be used to spice up the system's main interface. These downloads will also be free.
The new downloads will arrive in Japan on the 17th, and presumably throughout the world at around the same time.

lol, yea man.
Let's just say the new PS Store is a DIRECT result of a GAP survey.

New store is up. it's a little slow loading images and some images aren't loading at the moment but, it's only launched a few hours ago so, it'll probably be better in the next couple of days. Otherwise, the layout is MUCH better and definitely helpful to those of us who haven't bothered digging back into the older content.
