PSP 2001/Slim...
I may or may not have mentioned a couple of years ago that I sold my original PSP. Well, now that the PSP actually has games and much more interactivity with the PS3, I'm thinking about picking one up again.
I have a question for those of you who are in the know about these things...
Are the new PSP's as notorious as the originals for having dead pixels? This was something that didn't bother me at first but, became a real nuisance over time, with the original.
Are there any other quirky/weird issues with the slim that I should know going in to buy one?

It's definitely not a bad time to pick up a PSP. As you mentioned, the abundance of quality software has really improved as of late.
From what I've heard/read (I don't have a PSP Slim myself), the dead pixel problem with the original PSP is not an issue with the Slim. I suppose it's still possible, but most people have been saying it is no longer a frequent occurrence.
The only real con to buying the Slim is its overall durability. It seems to by much more fragile than the original (i.e. fragile UMD tray, flimsy memory stick door, and an unsound battery compartment door).
None of these seem like big issues, and the Slim is better in pretty much every other way. Are you getting the GoW: Chains of Olympus pack?

I'll probably be getting whatever pack becomes available where I work. Right now, we have 6 PSP in stock but, they're in RTV and pending delete so, the vendor probably wants those back now. Once those are out of the system, if we're getting more, it'll be in a new bundle. If we get the GoW bundles in next, I'll probably get that but, I'm not big on having Kratos's face on my PSP.
I was browsing through another forum earlier and I found that a lot of the people picking up the Daxter bundle were running into pixel issues. They were fairly old posts though so, it's possible that that particular batch was already burned through. Anyways, I don't want to go anywhere else to get my PSP because, the place I work has the absolute best return policy, in case I do get one with the poop-pixel issue.

Well that seems like a good idea then. In case there are pixel issues that return policy will come in handy.
And I completely agree with the part in bold!

Dead pixels are just a part of LCD technology. It's not exclusive to anything. My first GBA had dead pixels, as did my SP. My PS1 w/ 5" Screen had some dead pixels. My first PSP had dead pixels.
If it happens, it happens, just take it to the store as defective.
The reason the PSP community was so vocal about it was because the hardware was considerably more expensive than a GBA or DS.

You gotta admit though... the problem was more consistent with the PSP as opposed to those other LCD products. Everyone I know, personally, has had an issue with dead pixels on their PSP's... a couple through several PSP's, till they gave up and dealt with ones that they got that 'weren't as bad as the rest'.

Very true.
