Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicls: DLC Pricing Revealed (lmfao)
 Yea...I'll pass.
Quote:
Starting today, downloadable content for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King will be available in Japan. The first wave includes buildings that let players recruit the other races. Each one costs 300 Wii Points ($3) individually, but you can save 100 Wii Points by purchasing a tribal house pack. Other items include new clothes for Leo and Chime plus helpful buildings like a Sacred Shrine for 200 Wii Points ($2).
Here is a roughly translated list from Impress Watch. The denominations in parentheses indicate the price in Wii Points.
Three tribal house pack – A bundle, which contains three houses below (800)
Lilitie’s House – allows recruitment for stout Lilitie warriors (300)
Selkie’s House – allows recruitment of stealthy Selkie thieves (300)
Yuke’s House – allows recruitment of mystic Yuke mages (black/white) (300)
The King’s new clothes – grants the little king new outfits, which can be selected at the castle (100)
Dress up Chime – grants Chancellor Chime new outfits, which can be selected at the castle (100)
Sacred Shrine – allows construction of a sacred shrine where adventurers can get a temporary boost (200)
Extravagant House – a place where many citizens can congregate (100)
This isn’t the end of extra content for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King. In the future Square Enix plans to release a dungeon called the infinite tower and a library. Prices for these items have not been announced.
Up to this point, all of the content in Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King adds up to 2800 Wii Points ($28). This number includes the 100 Wii Point discount from the three tribal house pack. Remember, this pricing system is only for Japan. As of now Square Enix USA has not outlined plans for the North American release, which is expected to come in May.

Not like this though. The game is $15, and you have to pay just to recruit other types of characters?
The DLC, totaled together, is nearly double the price of the game alone.
The only example of this that is worse is EA.

Yes, but why in the world would you buy $28 worth of DLC? New outfits? Good grief.
Even if you did want to recruit all the other races, it will run you $8. How necessary is that though?
Yet I find myself still agreeing with you: it is still quite a rip off.

Well see, I'm a huge fan of DLC...when it's in packs.
Paying for a map pack is fine. Paying for individual maps is horrible.
I'm all for individual items, as long as they are priced appropriately (see: Rockband). I'm also against packs when they are over priced (see: Guitar Hero).
I guess DLC is hit and miss, and really depends. I think Warhawk has awesome DLC, as does Halo, Resistance, etc.
Oh, and Ratchet and Clank is getting DLC this summer

I agree, 100%. Most DLC within itself is great, and only becomes bad if an obscene amount of money (in the context of what you are buying), is charged for said item.
...what is this Ratchet DLC you speak of?

You should find out in the next few months. June July release (at least right now). I'll tell you one thing: It won't just be extra items

I can't exactly break a promise with those who entrust folks with info to me :P
It sounds like a big reason to be excited though, if you're a fan of the franchise / game.
