Nintendo Releasing Wii in Korea

Nintendo Releasing Wii in Korea
Console to launch with eight titles.
by John Tanaka

April 14, 2008 - Nintendo announced today final plans for the Korean launch of the Wii. The system will be released on the peninsula on the 26th. It will carry a price of 220,000 won, putting it about thirty dollars less than the US version of the system.

The Koreans won't get Wii Sports included for free though. Nintendo will be offering that title along with Wii Play separately at launch, each costing 4,000 yen.

Third parties are also on board. Set for release on launch day are Rayman: Raving Rabbids 2, Zack & Wiki, FIFA 08, Elebits, Namco Museum Remix, and Swing Golf Pangya 2nd Shot. Pricing ranges from 38,000 to 48,000 won. Guitar Hero III will follow in May at 88,000 won.

The Virtual Console will also be offered in Korea. Currently, the Virtual Console lineup in Korea includes just three platforms: the NES, SNES, and N64. April will see the release of Antarctic Adventure, Donkey Kong, Kirby's Adventure, Super Mario Bros., Gradius III, Super Mario World, Super Metroid, Cybernator, Contra III, and Mario Kart 64.
