hmm i dont know what other fish you could do with the goldfish you have now other than like butterfly koi or something like that.. i think goldfish like the water somewhat colder than say my tropicals.. so mixing them might not be good

damn last month all my orandas died...my dad ended up feeding them some kind of wierd protein shit.

my dad is like a 20 year old fish expert that tries all kinds of wierd shit.

he ended up getting me like 15 fishes extra to make sup for it.

where do i find decent prices online for equipment? is an air pump always required? or optional?

my 5 bucks air pump from walmart broke so i used automotive silicone and fixed it for now...as long as u dont put the air pump cover back on.

my air stone cracked when i tried to remove it from the tube after its been in the water.

only thing dfferent with my tank now is im running no rocks on the bottom..just the three big ornament rocks and not rocks on the bottom. tank looks real clear and bright

What do you mean by 'don't work'? Is there loose visible debrie floating around in the current or is your water discolored (mellow yellow) and smelly?

GoldFish are pretty dirty and a common problem is slimey film clogging up fine filter mesh. If the pad seems a bit to slimey just replace it with a new one. If the problem is just yellowing or discoloring of the water with a stinky smell then just run more carbon with a seperate powerhead or internal filter and replace the carbon every 2-3 days until the water is crystal clear and the smell is gone.

Changing part of the water 1+ times weekly also goes a long way in keeping everything clean, and keeping water clear and odor free.

Have you done any type of routine water changes? That would be the longterm fix for your water staying clean and clear.

Short term is to get a mesh bag and cram it with loose carbon chips that you can get in bulk. Make sure to rinse it very well till it runs clean under the sink. Then just strap the bag to the output of a powerhead (water pump, and make sure it has a strainer on the intake side). Plug it in and it should clear up with in 2-3 days depending on how bad it is and how much carbon you use. Make sure to replace it frequently since carbon has a max capacity on how much dissolved wastes in can obsorb before it becomes useless. In bad cases carbon can become useless within a day or two, so just replace it every other day with fresh carbon.

If you don't want to waste money on carbon and extra equipment, just replace 25-30% of the water daily until it clears up.

Lol, that will work too. May take a little longer since filters that come with carbon don't hold very much to make a night and day difference if the water is pretty bad.

What kind of filter are you using?
