At the pet store they list gourami as "peaceful surface feeders" but mine and the dwarf blue neons we have at work are actually pretty aggressive to other gourami. Live and learn I guess.

gouramis are air breathers too..just like bettas..which is why you dont have to put airstones and an air pump with bettas

with my orandas this time i feed them like once every day or two days. well i got rid of my old filter and my ornaments. i guess what probably didnt help was i had a convict that had his face ripped off by another fish and he died in the rocks. he was found all rotted up

the rotting fish didnt help..but its not so much about how often you feed them, but how much you put in the tank....I seriously dont feed my tank but once every 3-4 days..they dont have to eat as often as people think...if fish are dying off slowly, something is wrong with your husbandry

god damn kev. that sal water makes me want to do a saltwater set-up in my tank.
what do u think? how much would it cost? right now money is an issue...but in a month or 2 money wont be much of an issue. also, how is the puffer, im thinking about the freshwater puffer, but i hear they are aggressive as hell.

Anything thats odd isnt going to be easy to keep...and they generally arn't small. First off did they give you jsut the tank or are the accesorries with it? Since you are setting up a tank from scratch..if you go freshwater you are looking at like 100-200 without fish assuming you have jsut the tank..if you have the pump and filter and all that bs then you are looking at less depending on what you have..saltwater would be 300+ from scratch.
First thing you want to do is come up with a list of things you have now...and a list of the kinds of things you want to do with the tank..
as far as buying online...you dont want to do that.
If you do the freshwater puffer...yea, you could only do the puffers.

they gave me the tank, and the filter and the light and all that stuff, but it has bad calcium deposits at the top, but they still work. and i have no undergravel filter, but i dont think i would need one, nor do i think they make them for a bow front.

Furyokids' new tank/aquascape setup. She got a 25 gallon Aquapod tank.
The media is all Aqua Design Amano stuff, and the plants she bought locally. Right now the tank is cycling before she puts any fish in.
I liked how she used the bogwood to bolster up the background and give the tank some change in front/back elevation.

thats awesome.
i found some "3d" backgrounds for tanks that would prolly lok good in that, but they seem to be a space killer.
