LOL, thats their way of telling others to back off its territory. It looks cute but once those guys get around 7-8 inchs (12in full grown) you might wonder where the smaller fish are disappearing to. Same with the bala sharks... 12 in full grown. Thinking about upgrading your tank in the future?
Its a really nice tank by the way.

I'll post pics of my blacklight tank soon... Looks kinda weird in normal light... all the fake plants are flourescent. But with the blacklight on in the hood the whole thing lights up.

i picked up a bubbler and a pump, but i forgot the damned hose , so ill prolly just pick that up when the tank is ready for fish

Thanks - it's all my roommate's doing. He knows his shit.
I might upgrade in the future, who knows. I know the gouramis and the balas will get bigger but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
And Diana you asked where to get them - I got most of those fish at Petco, including the Pink Gourami. I think my roommate got the blue rams and neons at some private shop. He says "Petco fish die."
HONDA is an awesome fish!! I would love to have a big fish like that...someday.

I keep mine in that range usually 79*. What kind of plants are you planning to keep? Flora Pride from the brand TetraTec has served me well, so id recommend that. Its a basic liquid fertilizer that won't cause algea problems if you only plan to keep a couple plants.

i keep my tank at 78, but yea they grew fast because of the temperature. i also clean the tank once a month and change the filter every two months and have been doing it for the longest. I also keep them on a cycled diet of meaty foods (bloodworms, mealworms, and earthworms), and dry cichlid pellets alternating daily
