Well I Finally got one
I wanted a brand new mustang, but the cheapest i could get them to come down on a premium gt was 32k. so i started keeping my eyes peeled for a used one. found this "used" gt premium with 456 miles for 26k and figured the mileage was a type-o. called up the dealer and they said "no type-o, people don't buy sports cars in the winter, we need to make room for suv's"
so by 8pm friday night i left the lot with a mustang gt premium that i got for under trade in, after taxes i paid under blue book and the car is pretty much brand new.
I've put about 300 miles on it since friday night in between working all weekend, and man this thing is just a joy to drive, handles incredible, pulls almost as hard as my stroked and blown fox body did, and its bone stock. in fact when i was taking some corners and really feeling the car rotate in the apex with a little more throttle it reminded me of the cts-v's i used to get to drive.

not much for a while, probably some gt500 muffles, a few cosmetic changes, maybe some wheels. more than anything a lot of detailing.
and i only use motorcraft oil filters on fords
A nice air filter and some mufflers is probably all id do too.
As for filters I don't know how god motorcraft's are or who produces them, I'll look into it for ya but as far as I know nothing come close to beating a Purolator Pureone for filtering and price. The only 2(commonly found) that do are Mobil1's and Bosch distance plus filters. Filtration plays a huge role in engine longjevity. I'll get you some numbers for your new baby.
EDIT:
Motorcrafts appear to be rated 80% efficient @ 20 microns. Many posts have said Motorcraft oil filters are made by purolator and are simply a purolator classic. Purolator Pureone is the best filter you can buy that wont cost you an arm and a leg. Better filters would be Mobil1, Bosch Distance +, and Amsoil oil filters. All of them filter at nearly identical ratings however the mobil bosch and amsoil have the ability to trap more dirt, so they last a little longer. If your filtering at 20 microns and step your game up to a 5 micron filter, you essentially reduce 70% of engine wear. Thats how important filtration is. Give me the best filtration and the worst rated engine oil out there, rather than the other way around.
There are bypass filters that will pretty much remove every particulate in the oil > 1 micron. I would recommend them in your case since your car is brand spanking new. They cost a bit but don't need changed for extremely long periods. They also increase the oil capacity of the system. heres a link http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/eabp.aspx
