afro samurai..
just watched the premiere tonight on spike tv and it is a fuckin sweet show. I put it along the lines of samurai champloo.
Samuel L Jackson is the afro samurai, and the music is produced by the RZA. Cant wait for the next episode, the story line and fight scenes are all A+++++.

Saw that shiat last night. Pretty cool. And I don't think (Sam J) is the samurai, but his sidekick or whatever that dude is.

Sam's familiar voice is the sidekick, if he does the samurai then he seems to mumble it. i'm not impressed at all. the style is "Ninja Scroll"-like (which i love btw), maybe i'm desensitized whenever they have the quiet guy (Clint Eastwood-Fistful of Dollars) & the scared, comic-relief clown. i was more impressed w/ Samurai Jack
when i changed channels, i ended up watching Coffy on TMC & saw Pam Grier's boobage

I saw two episodes so far and I think this show kicks arse!!! Being that the show is on basic cable I'm surprised at how much they get away with. With so many samurai movies, animes and books about samurai its cool to see this show with an interesting storyline. Telling his past and his present within the same episode is smart as hell. I hope for many episode of this show. It works for me.

I heard unsubstantiated reports that those five episodes cost a $million each......if true, that would explain why only five were produced.

Yeah it does, but I heard, heard that it was more of a Champloo-style gore-fest than a good story, so that makes it seem like more of a waste. It's worth pointing out that I have not yet watched it.
SLJ did the voice of officer Tenpenny in GTA:SA, btw(along with other name-brands). Wonder how much Rockstar's price of admission went up because of that.
