He's not Japanese, he was referring to the languages he can speak. He's capable of speaking English, can probably curse and ask for a beer in Spanish and has heard his girl moan in Japanese in bed

they are flashbacks explaining how the vizards came to be as well as how some of the background stuff happened....before it gets into the big fight.
I must have missed the part that said it was a flashback. I could have swore in 169, when they do the refresh on whats going on at the beginning of each episode, they said they were back in the real world from saving Inoue. I'll have to wathc it again.

yea, it can be confusing
i think the last two episodes i watched (169&170) were merely fillers, but we'll see where they take it
