Can't Wait!
Hello. My name is Nick. I live in Cincinnati. I drive a totaled Honda Civic. I was T-boned by a girl on her phone. Now my car is misaligned and very damaged. I am going to get a new car soon. I am going to get a Honda.
Here are my reasons for choosing a Honda:
1. Low insurance rates
2. High gas millage
3. I like the look of most Hondas
4. Inexpensive
5. I have a family mechanic that is a Honda Specialist
6. There are other other less important reasons but this is enough
Okay, so now you know I want to get a Honda but you don't know which Honda I want. My favorites are the Civic, Prelude, and Accord (Possibly an Acura Integra). To help you help me decide which one I should get, here is some information about my goal for the car:
-Fast
-Reliable
-Decent MPG
-Must be manual
Obviously there is a balance between power/mpg. I get that. So here is my plan; I read somewhere where a guy had a boosted civic that didn't "spool up" until around 3k rpm. I honestly don't know what that means but I assume he can get good gas millage if he drives under 3k rpm. When he goes to 3k and above, the turbo will start generating boost and at that point gas millage doesn't matter at this point but what does matter is going fast! So that's kind of my goal. I want to create a sort of sleeper where I can drive around low rpm and save gas and money and have a reliable car but when I need to, I can floor it and release all my power not caring about saving gas.
Now, let's talk budget. I for one, can't do much mechanical work. I'm not a mechanic. I can do basic things. Replace a fuel pump. An O2 sensor. Those sort of things. So I might be able to install the turbo but I honestly don't know. Obviously I'd have to take it somewhere to get it bored or sleeved or any of that stuff. If you guys recommend a motor swap, I can't do that, but I think I know how to get one done for a decent price. So with that in mind, my dream is to build a car that could match a stock SRT-4 by spending under $7,000. BUT! I am willing to spend a little more if the car will be faster. Let me explain. I honestly don't know much about cars, but, if a boosted accord V6 is significantly faster than a boosted civic for example, and only cost $3000 more, I would rather do that. But, if the V6 accord gets bad gas millage, I would rather go with the civic or prelude or teg.
Hopefully you guys can shed a little light on this and then we can get a little deeper into this. Can't wait to meet all you guys and see what you have to offer. Thanks in advance!
And if I say anything dumb or noobish, correct me. I am a noob so don't flip out if I say something stupid. I'm uneducated. That's why I need your guys help.
