New and looking for some advice!

I just recently purchased my first honda. I purchased a 1993 honda del sol s which was in need of some work. I bought this car to be a project for the winter and to have something fun to drive in the spring and summer months. This is my first evxperence with hondas and the vtec system (I know the 1993 s model doesn't have a vtec engine.). The repairs are coming along smoothly and the car is in pretty good shape for its age. The day I purchased it it started and drove the 2 hours home with out a problem. I am now ready to work on the engine as it needs some attention, which brings me to my question. As I said before I have a 1993 S model, it is a 5 speed and has the original ecu. However the engine in my car is a D16Z6 from a SI model del sol. Seeing as this motor has the vtec system I would like to use it to its fullest potential. I don't plan on changing the set up as far as adding any proformance parts to it other than the CAI, Headers, and Catback that it came with. So my question is sould I use an rpm sensor switch to engage the vtec solenoid or would it be best to buy a P28 ecu to replace to one I have. I believe mine is an OBD1. If anyone has run into this before or can give me any advice it would be greatly appriciated. Thank you in advance
