I watched it last night not expecting too much and I've gotta say, I haven't been this emotional during a movie for quite a while. The story is not bad neither...the movie has a really frightening feel and a very "real" feel to it. I don't know how to explain that really well, but the confusion and fear the characters feel in the movie translated really well to me.
**possible spoiler**
It has one of the most fucked up endings ever, one of the main reasons why I like the film.
yeah I'm still here in Modesto. that's cool you're right down 99 in merced! I saw it today in fact, $7 matinee at regal. it was pretty good and i kept thinking, he said it has a fucked up ending. lol I guessed it or had a pretty good clue towards the end what might happen. that movie definitely has to have an alternate ending for the DVD! anyway, did you see any good previews when you went to go see it? I thought that Eye with Jessica Alba looks pretty good. I'm thinking it might be a remake of an Asian film, like The Grudge or The Ring was.

Yeah i havn't been very emotion while watching films lately, but i must say that ending was. . . WOW. . . I came out all depressed and sad...
But it was an extremely good movie, and the characters were very well devoloped through the movie. It also had very smooth transitions from scene to scene.

The Eye remake is a remake of the Hong Kong horror movie...........well, The Eye. The thing about the Hong Kong version of the movie was that they used real "supposely" haunted places to film the ghost scenes. That was the one big reason why that movie was scary, because people walk by or see those places everyday. Plus, the movie is like a "Where's Waldo" ghost version where there will be places with hidden ghosts throughout the movie.
O yeah, The Mist is probably one of the most fucked up movies i've ever seen. The ending left me at a stagger, like wtf!!!. It felt like i just woke up from a nightmare, and i'm still reliving it as i type this. This movie has such a big impact on a persons emotions and stability. This isn't a mindfuck movie, but it will fuck over your mind.........hard. This is one of the best movies i've seen this year and i really enjoy it. I might watch it again.

hmm...for some reason i thought when i typed fucked, it would com out fu**ed or something like that but instead it came out like i typed it; fucked. maybe the censor thing is fucked up
anyway, the ending didn't fuck me up that bad but the religious lady was pretty creepy. i can't think of anything else I've seen that lady in. I mean I know I've seen her before, but I can't remember which movies. I just couldn't see her playing a nice decent lady.
I also saw a preview for something called The Pougkeepsie Tapes or something like that. spelling on name is probably fucked up, but anyway it looks like a blairwitch type movie. they find these tapes and the audience is supposed to believe they're the real tapes. it has to do with some serial killings back in '01 and I got the impression it's based on a real case but I'm not positive. anyway it looks fucked up

cool! I'm glad you liked it. I loved how they all had that look on their faces in the end when they saw that gigantic monster, it was like, "fuck, we're doomed".

The acting was GREAT in this movie. I think that's what makes this film very good; every character played their part nicely, especially religious nutcase.

yes, like I said, I've never been as emotional about a movie as much as this one. And I'd never guessed it from just watching the preview haha.

that movie looks mehhh...to me. Seems like a chick flick. My girlfriend thought the videos were real, I told her it was so damn fake; they would never release real footage of such gruesome murders to the mainstream media.
Anyway, I'm glad that you all liked it as much as I did. The movie is downright scary, but it's scary in its own way. I could feel the horror and confusion the townspeople were feeling, I could feel their frustrations and sanity escaping them. I definitely could feel the main character's pain and suffering. But what makes this movie so "real" to me is how fucked up everything is and nothing 'good' actually happened. It was so anti-Hollywood.
