3.0 2000 accord EX...misfiring

I have a 2000 Accord 3.0 EX...driving at 30 the car started to miss. I had its codes read with what looked like the EGR failing. I changed the valve and still...3missing, 5missing and random misfire codes. Can a coil go bad without a code? I imagine that the EGR code is from the low vacuum from the low idle...is there a quick check of the coils to confirm they are good? Lastly why would 3 and 5 show miss firing? They both should not have failed at the same time? Is there a module that controls them that can be checked? Thanks...

Sorry to butt in, but how do you tell when your engine is "missing" either when you're driving or at a stand still? Just a curious guy trying to gain more knowledge........
