2001 V6 problems

Hello all. First of all, I know nothing about cars or anything likely, I only know how to *drive*.

History: The other day, last weekend especifically I received a call from a friend of mine that his car was unable to start. So, we gather together and decided we would try to start it, since apparently it was something with the battery (that I was told). We used his jumper cables to start the car. With my car turned on, we connected both ends of the cables to his battery and mine, and he turned his ignition key to the on position while the cables where still connected, after sensing that his car was cranking up, we immediatelly disconnected the cables. We tried this several time with no avail, apparently it was something else going on with his car.

So, after that day, my car started to have problems starting. First, i noticed right away when switched the car off that same day, after waiting approximatelly 1 hour, I tried to turn it on again. After I turned the key to the on position, it cranked up slowly, something that have never happened. I inmediatelly knew something was wrong, since before that day, I had only to put the key to the on position for my car to start.

No lights or any sight of anything wrong on the dash. Many friends of mine are recommending me to change the battery, because it probably died from that. I tested the car with another battery that I borrow from a friend's car and the car started normally. But what frightens me more is that today I borrowed another battery from a shop, because they didn't have the one I was looking for and this battery is developing the same symptoms that the one I had the car before (btw, I bought this car from someone in Miami and it had an honda genuine battery on it, so it could possible be the battery the car came with).

Do you guys think it could be something else wrong with the car ? as I said, no lights on the dash or any other sight of anything wrong in the car, I expect at least if something goes wrong to have my check engine light on, which I dont have, not even the battery one. What could possible be the reason for this ? I am waiting for tomorrow to pick up the new battery to see if its something battery related. Do you think that putting the jumpers cables could possible caused the battery to die ? I have friends that said that shouldn't have happened or it could possible mean that the battery was going to die soon, which I find it hard to believe since it didn't develop any symptoms of that before.

Any info is appreciated and sorry for the long post, it just that I kind of depressed with all of this, since I didn't have any problems with my car before this.

Thanks!

My mechanic told me if you are going to jump another vehicle with your own then you must run your vehicle for a few minutes while the jumper cables are attached to the other vehicle to give the battery a sufficiant charge. You must shut your vehicle off before the other person tries to start their vehicle. If your engine is running while the other person is trying to start his or her vehicle then you can get surges from that. Their car is draining from your battery while your engine is running and that robbs power from your engine and puts strain on it. Your ECU might go bad from these surges. In reality it isn't the best idea to jump another vehicle with your own. Get a jump box that plugs into the wall outlet or one that stores the power in the jump box unit where you can take it with you.
