Blown Engine help

The engine in my 99 Acura 3.0CL went today and i was wondering how expensive and hard to find another one would be. I also wanted to know if there is any way to perhaps put an accord engine in the CL. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

oh wow your the first person ive ever heard of that wants to put an accord engine in their CL, ussually its the other way around.. But there both 3.0 so if you can do the swap one way you should be able to do it the other.. It'll cost a pretty penny though.

Which accord engine? Your 3.0L from the CL is the Accord V6 engine from 98-02. I would recommend the same J30A1 unless you find a great deal on a J30A4 with the 5AT.

Your best bet is to install a J32A1 from a TL,CL. Its a straight swap and gives more power.

No its not a straight swap and it only gives minimal power gain in mid-top range of the power band. Not to mention much more expensive. Just stick with your J30.

Usually someone asking for advice doesn't readily have the money to be dumping for upgrades.

Even if he was to do it himself he probably still doesn't have the needed tools to replace the engine.

And even if he did swap it out wouldn't it need a new intake and exhaust as well? Because they didn't just increase the displacement, they changed the intake and exhaust on that engines production line to increase hp. Not to mention would the exhaust match up?

I'm wondering if he knows what went wrong with the engine? Usually engines just don't die. For the most part, disregarding racing, owners forget about their fluids and end the engines life prematurely.

indeed spot on. yeah i believe your right about the exhaust not sure though. it really doesn't matter cus you got to change it out to compensate for the increased displacement anyways. lol
