What tranny options for 2000 V6?

My 6th generation accord has succumbed to the infamous transmission problem at 159K.

I would like to know if there are any options besides another 6th generation Accord transmission?

Acura TL? May be even a 3rd generation TL tranny?

I would love to get a 5-speed auto.
(I pre-suppose that swapping in a manual is probably not feasible)

After some research...

My mechanic looked into a manual-for-auto for his TL. The main thing is all the labor involved: with redoing the dash and getting a clutch pedal in, with redoing the wiring harness (this talk is starting to get out of my league).

$5000 was the ballpark figure.

As an upgrade, I think I would prefer a 5- or 6-speed auto. A paddle-shifter would be great, but I know there is wiring concerns there too - new steering wheel - just not how hairy. Anybody done that?

I really don't want to just rebuild this "GM transmission" and have it go out again in the future.

paddle shifters would be a longer stretch; but manual tranny swap is possible.

$4k isnt too bad, considering the dealer will charge you $4k anyway for a tranny replacement. all trannys that you can buy are pretty much rebuilt.
