yea..but i'd rather just swap the entire engine..to get a hold of a used K20a2 isnt too bad...less than 4g's to purchase one w/out selling your old motor..and everything including the tranny just bolts right in...

Hondata wouldnt be a bad way to go either...w/ Hondata the EP's are able to cut 1 sec from their 0-60 due to the higher shiftpoints and more agressive fuel curves offered by the flash, throw in some toda cams, cai, comptech headers, exhaust..and you'll be set for awhile =)

Since the 2002-03 Si i-Vtec k20c also incorporates Variable Timing Control (VTC), wouldn't the power band be so linear that VTEC engagement would be a lot less noticable?
That is pretty much the end result. The i-VTEC-E engines don't really have a a noticable change over like the older B Series engine, they go from 12 valves to 16 when the change over occurs. At least when I drove a new HB Civic I could not hear any real change, it sounded the same all the way up to redline. The B Series engine really growls when VTEC engages even without I/H/E bolt-ons.

Targa did a nice job of laying it all out.

No, because the Si still has a better power to weight ratio than the EX. The K20A3 engine still has 160hp and 132 lb-ft of torque, so it is actually better than a B16A. Not to mention, the new Si's transmission has very short gearing . . .

to answer your question, if you want an aggressive crossover into vtec.. "if thats what you want to hear" ur first mods should be a CAI and headers... plus k series motor respond really well to boltons... so its an added plus..

B- series vtec sounds more raw imo.. the new k series sounds more toned down from the olden days "not as loud" but still sounding good.

to clear everything up and end this godforsaken ricer thread. Only idiot ricers want to hear/feel vtec egagement. the stutter you feel isn't a good thing. when vtec cross-over happens and you switch cam profiles, you are feeling a momentary dip in hp/tq. that is not a good thing. a real tuner will try and tune their engine so that this is flattented out. with that being said anybody who revives this thread again is stupid. good night i'm going to have sex with an asian girl now.
