Can anyone offer some insight?
I noticed something weird with my '91. With my clutch, specifically. For some reason the friction point tends to differ. Sometimes it's fine and it doesn't start to grip till I let off the clutch part way. Other times it grips immediately as soon as I start to let the slightest bit of pressure off the pedal. And this is with the pedal pressed to the floor.
I've noticed that it tends to not do it so much if I put it in neutral when I'm coming to a stop, let off the clutch, then depress it again and shift into first. But it seems to occur if I just keep the clutch pedal held down as I'm coming to a stop and shifting back into first gear without going to neutral first, then taking off like that.
It can be kind of embarrassing to drive this car sometimes. When it grips immediately like I explained, the car over-revs when I go to take off and it seems to grip only slightly, and I have to let off the clutch faster than I normally would to get it to take. It's fucked up to even try to explain. You'd probably have to drive it to see what I'm talking about. All I know is, my Prelude doesn't behave like this. I can leave the clutch depressed when I come to a stop and not have any problems when I take off. No matter what, the friction point is always the same on the Prelude. Hope this wasn't too confusing.
