A few remaining questions about clutch install

I've been doing a ton of searching and just have a few questions remaining.

1.) According to C-speedracing.com it is a good idea to clean the flywheel, clutch, and pp surfaces to remove oil. Does this mean just excess oil or natural finger oil? What should I use to remove this oil? clean rag, rubbing alcohol??

2.) When you are about to seperate the transmission from the engine. You have the engine supported by a jack.
C-speedracing.com says "Once the jack is in place, remove the engine mount and slowly let the motor drop down by lowering the jack until the motor sits sideways in the engine bay."
I don't understand this step. Could someone please elaborate on this a little more.

Thanks for the help
Jason

just make sure it's all clean and maybe even have the flywheel resurfaced by a machine shop.......and after you take the mount loose, the engine and tranny will drop together to a point....when it's at an angle and low enough to slide the tranny off and out, then that's good.....don't let it hang or anything, but the mounts will give enough usually where it will give you some clearance....you'll see when you get to it though..nothing surprising....good luck with it....

fizzbob7: thanks for the clarification. I do plan on getting the flywheel resurfaced.

Do I need to worry about the engine/tranny sliding off the floor jack?

1) Yes your can apply oil to the flywheel with your fingers, especially because you will be touching dirty surfaces (tranny, engine bay, etc) After putting the flywheel on and torqueing it, clean it with BRAKE CLEANER
2) Yes you can drop it with only 2 mounts supporting it, Only problem is when you put the tranny back on, you may have to jack up the whole engine to make it fit back on the other engine mounts.

You can pull the transmission without tilting the engine down, have someone above to lower it and someone below to maneuver it around to clear everything.

the transmission really isnt that heavy, I can lift one alone piece of cake. I just braced myself, threw my padded creeper underneath and lowered it down to the ground
