Guys, what would you recommend for tires, I am riding on the three different tires. Two are the same and the other two are different. I have one original michellin, one dunlop and two nanakang (Sp?). I need at least two to get me through the winter. What should I go with that is good, reliable, and not going to kill the pocket. One place wants $182/tire for the installation and balancing, etc for the stock michellins. And $115/tire for the BF goodrich track TA.
I need help, should I stick with the 55 or go up or down, etc.
Should I just get a rim/tire package if I am going to be spending $600 for just tires, fuck it, I can get new rims for $800 out of the magazines with free shipping.
A thing to remember is that I live in new england (boston) and the winter up here is miserable, my factory wheels sucked in the cold, they got hard and didn't grip for shit. I am looking to get at least two, maybe four if the price is right. I went on tire rack, they had a shit load of different tires and I got baffled!!
So I turn to my parents (SHO) for advice...... Also, I guess I would need an all season tire, it is my daily driver.
Please help before the snow hits!!!!
Peace

Hey...Bob how you doing??....as far as tires that are good for our neck of the woods Nitto Extremes...I have 4 on my RSX-S and BTW have 4 Michelins Pilots all seasons sitting in my basement with only 150 miles on them.....but the kicker is that they're 16"...from my S....
Anyway ...nice to see you...( how's Edwin?..)
Get yourself a set of steelies and put some snow tires on them for the winter, you'll be glad you did. The difference in snow grip between the OEM Shitelin all-seasons and real snow tires is unbelievable.
Then get yourself a set of Kumho Ecsta 711 205/50-15 for your stock wheels, and run those in the summer time. TireRack has them for $43 apiece . . .
This is what I do. I have 14" steelies from an EX with snow tires on them, and I have Kumho 711s on my alloy wheels.
HEK, thanks for the cock tease ..lol. Yeah, I am still rolling with Edwin, he sold out and got a nice GTI V6.

HOw do you know: y: about Mass, you the man. I am going to consider this and also I will look into the 14's. Should I go with just the front or should I get all around? And what do these run for the 14's with snow tires? DO they come standard with the stock ex's or did you buy steelies and throw SNOW TIRES onb them; if so what did it cost you.
If I could, I would like to do the steelies for the winter and then when the summer comes, get the new ones.
But if town fair is having 69 all around installed then that might be the all around, winter summer, next year, until they blow up tire!!! lol, decisions, decisions, decisions!!!!!: :
lol

this is a good suggestion, except i'd get something better than kumho 711s for summer tires.
for summer tires:
Falken Azenis Sport
Yokohama AVS ES100
Kumho Ecsta MX
Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position
Dunlop SP Sport9000
for all year around:
Kumho Ecsta 711
Kumho Ecsta 712

I don't need any of those overpriced, overkill tires for the street, I have a separate set of wheels for autocross R-compounds.
The reason I suggest Kumho 711s is because they are so dirt cheap, $43 apiece for 205/50. I got the entire set shipped to my door for $202 and got them mounted and balanced for free - you can't even have 2 Bridgestone S-03s shipped for that price. (Kumho MX are a superior tire to the S-03 anyway IMHO, and they are significantly cheaper too).
Also, the 711s have more than enough dry grip for street use. I have noticed absolutely no difference in daily driving with my 711s vs. with my Azenis, other than the fact that the Kumhos can actually handle standing water . . . I have yet to be able to outdrive the 711s on the street, and anyone who says they have passed the limit of the 711s on the street should have their license revoked for driving like a complete asshole and endangering the general public.
It's nice to have several sets of wheels, right now I have:
- 4 15" Si alloys with 205/50 711s
- 4 15" Si alloys with 205/50 Azenis, soon to be R-comps (or swap for 13x8s)
- 4 14" EX steelies with 195/60 Blizzaks
I have a decent tire for every driving condition I encounter. This is the way they do it in Europe, they don't use all-seasons over there. I think car manufacturers should start offering separate winter and summer wheel & tire packages as an option for all new sporty/sports cars here in America, or at least in the areas that see snowfall. Wouldn't you agree?

Ah hell just go to a bone yard and get some steelies, and slap theese bad boys on
No, i am just joking. Cooper makes a good winter tire, and when I lived in NY and Connecticut I had 2 sets of wheels. One set for the winter (Coopers) and one set for the summer. Also remember we have Front wheel drive those are the best for the snow.
GoD I miss snow!
I want to thank everyone for the help. I am going to hit a bone yard and pick up some steelies and do the winter thing. Then I will order some tires for the summer. I will look into the 711's.
Peace

Ive got F1s all round on mine, some people complain about the soft side wall, but its not really a major issue. The tread is mint, plus it handles sweet in the dry or wet.
Ive got some brand new steelies but they make the car look like its missing something..like the car doesnt look right with them on!
