For those who have experienced this I've been getting 2nd gear grinding for the past two years. Dealer doesn't want to fix it so I went ahead and purchased the full ES Bushing kit, and Skunk2 short shifter (double bend).
Installed last week and now no grinding and many props to the great and smooth Skunk2 short shifter. It's almost S2000 feel.
New bushings are also great and totally recommend it if you have the time and money. I had a shop install mine at $50/hour for almost 14 hours of labor. But now the car feels totally fresh and new. Cornering the car just zips I love it.

If my calculations are correct, labor costed about $700. That's too expensive for me. I'll do it myself. But that's cool. My 3 gear grinds but I don't think it's the bushing, it's the synchros. How much is the bushing kit??

man, 700 bucks down the drain, i wonder how much the kit costed in the first place! it must suck when you dont have a bunch of certified mechanics as friends all with their own garages and lifts (its nice trust me)
thats a HUGE kick in the nuts.
damn i wouldn't have paid for that. what the hell did they do for all thoes hours? fucking go for lunch?
i got my short shifter installed by a mechanic at the same shop rate, when i lived in an apartment and had no access to tools. it costed me one hours worth. i didn't have the bushings replaced, but that gives you an idea of how much you got fucked in the ass.
and i thought i was paying too much for 50$
man, fuckin 14 hours of labour, most mechanics can swap an engine in that time, or less.
sorry for the rudeness, but im just telling you man, you got hosed.

yeah he said the full kit- still took too long, oh well its over nothin anyone can do about it so we might as well stop makin him feel bad about spendin his loot- peace.
14 hrs is a long time, but figure they had to replace every bushing on the car. The rear (firewall) engine mount is a PITA and they had to disassemble the entire suspension, press out the old bushings, insert the new bushings, then reinstall the entire suspension. It probably takes longer that most of us think.

But yes this is a FULL KIT. So for some of you shooting off your mouth, read before you make an ass of yourself.
It was the suspension (trailing arms, control arms, sway bars, shocks), power steering, and shifter bushings. 14 hours is about average time it takes. I've talked to others whom took them 15-20'ish hours.

Anyhow, what's the ride like now with all the bushings?? Lots of vibrations? I've heard both positive and negative things about it..

Well that explains it...
I wasn't running my mouth, but I was a tad bit confuzzled about what you actually bought...
How do you like the skunk2 SS? Does it change the height of the shifter at all??? If you have a pic of what it looks like installed that would be awesome!!! I wanna see what the duel bend looks like in our cars.
Thanks and congrats!!!

With the new bushings and 300f/400r springs it really hasn't made the ride rougher (at least I cannot tell). I just had the car corner weighted and the toe (0 front and rear) and camber set (2.5 front and 1.8 rear). And the car corners like a dream. The shop is also making a block so I can put the camber back to 1.3 front after races and set the toe back to 0 when I change to my daily specs.
But now the car is a new animal. Where before when taking a turn I would: turn the steering wheel, the car would dive, and then the car would turn. Now you turn the steering wheel and it turns - like it's an extention of my arms
The short shifter really didn't change the height much. Maybe 1" shorter and since I got the double bend it brought the shifter closer. I didn't want the single bend - kinda looked funny. But yeah it shifts so much nicer than before and the throws are like 2", whereas before it was about 4-5".
