Poor man's Type-R
Well a few months ago i posted about about my water blown motor. Heres the update.
30,000 miles LS block on the way. Balanced crank, honed sleeves. New stock rods and pistons already installed.
15,000 miles Type-R pistons and rods on the way.
I'm gunna use my Stock b16a2 head.
How much should I expect to pay to have all of this put in?
I don't trust my own mech. skills to do all of this myself, nor do I have the equipment.

just taking a stab (since area's of the country vary) i would say 2000-2400 by a reputable shop. this doesn't appear to be your normal engine swap since they'll have to assemble your new engine with the parts you mentioned, pull the old and then install the new.
this is only a guess. i would start calling around now and get some prices before all your parts start arriving.
edit: 2k-2.4k est. is labor alone, parts always extra

i got quoted with everything i mentioned, $1,400-$1,600 and it would take 2 weeks. I was just wonderin if that sounded right? I am gunna look around for a few more shops and take the best of what I find though. If they mostly are the same prices im gunna go to the one who's work is the best.

a poor mans type r is a gsr block with a b16 head, you are building an lsvtec with itr internals. I would say ull make good power off of it though.

I really recommend getting ITR cams/valvetrain put in while you have the head off...
You'll notice huge gains with what you have....and if your crank is balanced you shouldn't have a problem revving to 8500.
Damn that's gonna be a torquey beast....

i cant wait, i wanna be able to hit the gas in second at like 20 mph and feel a little pull, im hoping there huge gains. I promised myself that when the civic rolled again it would be much meaner.
oh and who wants the stock LS slugs and rods?

of course there are going to be huge gains. I've seen dynos of lsvtecs, with stock bottom ends pushing 175 whp 145 wtq untuned.
with itr cams/pistons you should be able to hit over 200 whp no problem

Blowing my stock b16a2 by hitting a puddle.....................Lots of pride
LS block with new pistons, honed sleeves and a balanced crank.......$300 + $120 to ship it from SC to NC.
Type-R pistons and rods.............$102.50 (searched for a long time for the best deal i could find) plus like $20 bucks to ship them.
Everything is EBAY priced but everything has a warranty from the sellers.
Having everything installed by a reputable shop.......$1,400-$1,600
Im using my stock head and luckily I have b series motor mounts in my car.

WOW, that isn't that bad, it's the labor that kills. Too bad you don't know anybody that can help you out. There has to be a fellow SHO member in you area that could lend a hand for some money on the side.,.... Just food for thought.

trust me its gonna be fast, lsvtecs can be really fast with itr internals, honestly though if i were you i would install some buddy club spec 3s and u will make 200whp easy with itr slugs, also you said your putting in aftermarket rods right? make sure you do cause my friends lsvtec stock rod bolt said piece out and it destroyed his engine. if you are gonna use the stock rods just get arp rod bolts and shotpeen the rods .
