Problem with my si (bsr engine)

Hey I have a 2000 si with a gsr engine, (1994) and its acting wierd, if i start it, and give gas it starts backfiring or something in my intake makes this poping sound, and the car kind of jerks, and then my check engine light turns on and after that the car drives fine, and today in the morning it took forever to start my car. Does anyone know what that could be? thanks to all

Well when I connect the computer thing that rads the code to see why the check engine light is on, it can't find a connection so I;m thinking maybe the thing thats under the drivers stirring wheel where you connect the computer thing isnt connected to the ecu.
