Rev Limiter Question

whats up, i know this may be a redundant topic, but today, on my way, to lunch, this RSX Type-S starts to tail me. so with my short temper, i decided to downshift and pull away from his ass. to let you know, i was cruising in 3rd at about 40 mph. well, i went down to 2nd, i was doing fine, then i felt the car bog 3 times in a row and sounded something like... "Ra Ra Ra!!!", then i left off the gas. this is the rev limiter that I felt right??? this is the first time i have felt this in my car. just wondering if my engine went through any type of damage (be it small or big)?? i know the manual says something about this being in the engine, so i guess hitting it once would probably not kill anything...is my assumption right??? thanks!!!

LOL @ You_Get_Vapors.......sounds like you hit the rev limiter man. Don't stress over it, your car is gonna be fine.....just don't make a habit of it.

did you happen to look at your tach when this happened? well if you were around 8200, giving that the stock tacs tend to be off a little then it was probably the rev limiter. just watch your tach next time and learn from this...

that sir was the fuel cut. it saves you from causing damage to your car. the only side effects of bouncing off the rev limit is fouling of spark plugs.

I've hit rev limiter many times autocrossing. Not much damage should have occurred with your stuff there. I've even hit redline about 8 times in a row since I didn't want to upshift before the turn
