short throw question...

I have a ractive short throw shifter that I put in a couple of months ago. I was wondering if any of you guys have a problem with the shifter rubbing over the heat shield covering the exhaust underneath. I shift fine and there is a noticeable difference in throw-but I could do without all that rubbing when I shift into 2nd. It sounds like metal skidding over metal lasting a sec or two and it only happens shifting in and out of 2nd.

yes this is normal for a lot of short shifters. It's not uncommon at all. My Skunk2 doesn't rub at all though

I appreciate the feedback on that. Makes me feel a little better about keeping it in there and not just buying another kind like dc sports etc...

if you do end up getting another kind don't get the DC Sports one...I've heard stories of them breaking. Get the Skunk2...it is VERY well constructed

Yeah, I had my DC in my old '97 EX for about a year, and I put it in the Si a few weeks ago, no problems at all..

When I put it in the Si, it banged against the heatshield a little in 3rd gear, so I just bent the shield a bit and now it's fine..

I would not remove the heat shield it is there for a purpose, what I did is just lowerd the exhaust like a cm. and that did the trick. Most automotive stores have the hangers, they are just little rubber ones. Just get a longer one, and it should be fine.

The c's is a good shifter, but I'm pretty sure you need to get type R shift linkage to use it. My friend has one in his Si, and he had to get the type R linkage. The shifter feels really good, and sits at stock height.
