hi,
I'm thinking of buying a 01-03 Si as a first car. The price range as I've seen on autotrader is around 10-13k. I'm gonna put down about $6500 and finance the rest. I'm not looking for a performance machine just a fun daily driver that provides reliabilty and good gas mileage. What is the opinion of the members here of this (possible) purchase?

How bad do stage 1 cams mess with the reliability of the car. I'm in the same position as 98civicdcsport but i don't want to mess around too much that i will ruin the relability of the car. Let me know what you think.
Thanks

SI comment and question
I just bought a brand new Civic SI. Awesome ride. Its the best car i have gotten for under 21,000. As far as parts and performance, i am leaving mine mostly stock except for some tint, my system and maybe in the future throwing some 19's on it. I have the stock 17's but those are just OK.
The car has 300 miles on it. The book recommends 5w-30 for oil and 91 octane or higher gasoline. My question is, should i go with the synthetic oil? Haven't heard too much on it and was wondering.

Yes. The only time you don't want to use synthetic is when your car has a decent amount of mileage on it and it's been given normal dino juice during all that time.
So...yes only give it synthetic. Also...it's a good idea to change the oil after the first 1000 miles.
Also since you have a brand new car there are a couple things you can do to insure it's long life. This may be overkill but I think it's a good idea. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-M...spagenameZWDVW

If you want to protect your stuff, get it! Remember that you can keep it even if you get a new car.
Do the power windows if you want, I know I couldn't live without power. Hey man, it's what we all do. Buy cheap and upgrade, upgrade, upgrade until you finally get rid of the car

Have you heard anything about the Viper Alarms that are sold at CircuitCity I think....?

Supercharger or K-20?
Hello all, I have a 2000 Honda Civic SI and after a year and a half of saving I have enough money to a get a Vortech Supercharger with Aftercooler, which would push me to 277hp and about 176 ft/lbs of torque...Looked around various sites and the cheapest one I found was $4,300. Then I looked around at a K-20 and found one on JDM for $4,500...I don't know where to go from here. If I should just pull the trigger and do an engine swap or just set aside the 16-20 hours to install the Supercharger. The problem is is that my SI is my daily driver... Please give me some suggestions.
