I just bought it with 42000miles.
I'm probably gonna use this car 4-5years.
I heard turbo charger isn't recommended for vtec engines. is that true?
what about supercharger?
how many horses can I gain from each.
and what are good manufacturers for turbo/supercharger?
i think the seller will take 5000 , should i buy it, test drove it and its in very good condition except for the primered fender, i can paint it for 80 bucks though.
blue book is 6,100
just wanna say like the picture of that white car... is that a accord with RL front bumper with whole lip kit?... wonder if they sell that kit and bumper with eyelids..
Hello all, I have a 2000 Honda Civic SI and after a year and a half of saving I have enough money to a get a Vortech Supercharger with Aftercooler, which would push me to 277hp and about 176 ft/lbs of torque...Looked around various sites and the cheapest one I found was $4,300. Then I looked around at a K-20 and found one on JDM for $4,500...I don't know where to go from here. If I should just pull the trigger and do an engine swap or just set aside the 16-20 hours to install the Supercharger. The problem is is that my SI is my daily driver... Please give me some suggestions.
Why don't u just turbo it. If a supercharger goes out it's a bitch to fix it, but turbo's can be fixed or replaced cheaply. Im not gonna go into more pros/cons of turbo, im pretty sure u prob researched enough about it.
If u decide to later on get a k-20, u might need to take out the ac compressor or power steering due to space (not 100% sure). Since i have a 00 civic si, as a daily driver i wouldn't use forced induction. I would just save the money for now and later on down the road get a gsr engine, as most of ur aftermarket performance parts will go with it and try to get around 220 all motor .

kinda high for a car with that kind of mileage man, i would try to get that price down to at least 4500-5000 and no more from that. Some people try to squeeze way too much money out of car because a lot of people want them due to demand, but i wouldn't budge from anymore than 5000.

He is completely right. That is a lot of miles. I would not go more than $5,000.

Hey Soulless, I'm right there with you. I've just put 3,500 miles on mine. I don't know any more than you, but my goal is to get a greddy T3/T4 Turbo on it within the 36,000 mi warranty. Fat chance, but it's a goal. First, I'd think of something like a cold air kit, or the cheaper route - short ram air. Then, I'd think about re-flashing the ecu with Hondata (not well versed on all the ecu products, mind you. Just one I've seen a lot about). That takes care of the air, and the computer. Depending on what all you plan on doing, I'd think about the fuel side. The compy will be pushing the fuel delivery to it's peak, so time for some injectors. (they are a royal pain in the ass, since you have to remove the dash to get to them). After you've done all that mess, you might as well just save up for a turbo kit, and get all that done at once. The cold air kit would essentially be replaced anyway. Tha's just me, and IMHO. Good luck! Hope you love the car as much as I do!
I am in a heated debate between what kind of headers I should get. A friend tells me Holley Headers, another say DC and someone mentioned ZR headers. After doing some research, I also found Greddy sells good headers, as well as Edelbrock. So basically, I ask what your thoughts are.
I do have a fixed price due to certain upcoming events. I'd like it to be in between 300 - 400 $$$. If it's easier to answer via email, feel free. Would like to hear different opinion. I've got a future plan on buying an exhaust but it would probably have to wait until after summer.
I also heard a rumor that it's suggested to buy the same headers from the same company that you're getting an exhaust from. Is it true? If you could let me know that as well, that'd be great too. Thank you guys for your help.

Any set of headers will help your car breathe out a little easier. The differeces depend on what you want from a header and where you're going with them. If you just want a better flowing exhaust, google some different brands and see what type of numbers people are getting. As far as an opinion, I've seen some DC headers on an '08 Si and have held a set of Greddy headers. If it were me I'd find the best of those two. Just my 2 cents though. As far as matching headers and exhaust kits, they're pretty much just a preference. If you respect how one header manufacturer strives for a particular characteristic (power, efficiency, look, sound,) then you would logically assume that the exhaust kit would hold the same characteristics. It's hard to really critique or rate one part of an engine when it is a component of a larger system. You could try mixing them up and may get a better sound or even better performance. Then again you could backslide a little bit and figure out what's not working like you hoped. It's a little costly, but in the end you'll love knowing that you know how to change it and what it is you're looking for. I may get a set of DC headers but I plan on turbo-ing the car sometime, so there's no use to buy two sets of headers. Probably save my money and wait. Good luck, and let me know if you do decide on one style.

My opinion? Skunk2. My friend has them in his car, with a short ram intake. That thing opens up and bites the ass off of mustangs. I've not experienced an Si with Type R cams, so I guess it's a weak opinion, but that's still it. In the raw. Like sugar. 'cept not so sweet.
