Should I go after this Salvage 99 Honda Civic SI

yeah well today I was searching around the net looking for junk yards and stuff around where I live. I came upon this site that sales parts and cars which need work. I came upon this car, which it seems it doesn't really have any damage to it. They show a picture of whats under the hood and that damn thing looks clean as helll. Only has 45,468 miles on it. The highest bid so far is only 1,300 and the bidding ends in 1 day and 4 hours. So should I go for it?

Full Si body kit. someone put a cheap ass motor in what WAS a nice car= my guess. And what are those 1/2 spoon knockoffs and 1/2 Ricey rims?

Well check the chasis code if it says EM1 it is an SI, but judging from whats under the hood (which is a SOHC NON-Vtec by the way) and theres also no DOHC-Vtec stickers on the side. They could have easily put an SI gauge cluster from an SI too. But if I were you i would save up for another SI, at least one with the appropriate engine and legit.

I say go for it. The trim is SI, the seats are SI, it's a goddamn SI with a DX motor in it. Like what was already said, check the vin number, and make sure the vin stickers on the body panels are the same. If it's accurate, buy the car cheap, it most likely has the factory engine harness and buy a B16A2 and drop it in. Finish it and you can turn around and sell it for 8 or 9k. That's what I would do.

Another reason it's an SI, it has power steering, air cond, and the spoiler. Those dohcVTEC decals and the SI emblem on the back can be bought cheap from the dealer

you cold get ps, ac, and that spoiler on all 1999's. the only way is to check the Vin. Ej8 = no / Em1 = yes

Dude, looks like an Si to me. IF I were you, I would grab that for 1300 and do an LS/Vtec or B20 in that bitch. So for about 6K (guess) you can have a fast looking Si. Just my .02cents.

BTW, what a cock tease when I saw the first pic and then the one with the done up SOHC.lol

Was an Si...

As said before, it is a DX swapped Si (definite sin). Biggest sign is the stock moonroof (which makes it at least an EX) and stock Si shock tower brace mounting bolts. Also notice the guage cluster, seats (upholstery and hole in the headrest), grill, body colored side skirts and interior matched leather wrapped steering wheel. Buy it and swap out that crappy engine and you got yourself (minus some of the other crap on that car) a nice car.

Well back to the question at hand.
I say no. Only because in my state it is a real pain in the ass to register a car that doesn't have a clean title.
Alot of paperwork and other b.s.

Granted it could have been painted but the side moldings are the same color as the car. The Si's did this, the other trims had black moldings. I think this is an Si body, something happened, and a different engine was put in.
