I own a stock 2000 Si and from what I've seen (magazine testing only, mind you) the Spec-V has a slight quarter mile advantage if you assume the drivers are equal. Mods to the Si could certainly change that, but bear in mind that short of forced induction or a major motor transplant, the Si is not going to make a lot of torque, of which the Spec-V has plenty to spare. In addition, the Si is undoubtedly a lot trickier (and less forgiving of mistakes) to launch well. More importantly, though, remember that the Si wasn't designed with straight line performance in mind. The car was set up for circuit/rally racing, which it does extremely well. It's a respectable performer in terms of acceleration, but Honda wasn't looking to create a quarter-mile monster. It simply is what it is. That said, drive both cars and go for the one *you* like best--some folks prefer back-slapping torque, others love high winders.

I would take the SI for sure.. I've heard some bad things about the sentra spec-v. Reviews in some magazines hasn't been that great.

yeah, just vizwiz said "get what YOU want" not what other people say. its gonna be YOU that's driving and enjoying the car not other people. as for the Spec-V, i think its a pretty nice car. lotsa torque. my neighbor owns one in black and it looks pretty nice.
its your car not the public's
good luck with the car. which ever one you get man.

i love the new front end on teh sentra specv but it just seems like they didnt change the rest of the car. as far as performance goes stock to stock the vspec is gonna beat the si just cause of its amount of torque, which also should make it a little more forgiving to mistakes. i love the si though dont get me wrong i just think stock to stock the si isnt gonna quite be ble to compete with all the toque that the spec v is producing. however there are a lot more fun aftermarket parts out already for teh si, and the spec v is still a little new so the parts arent quite flowing give it some time- peace

where does it say thati traded in a gsr for a mustang gt?? i sold a gsr and now i drive a mustang gt if thats what you are implying. 302 ft/lbs torque stock. thats why i drive a mustang its the best bang forthe buck you can buy, and honestly i am getting kinda sick of having cars like what i used to drive come up and rev on me with there universal N1 lookalke muffler, and their NOS stickers. as far as what is wrong with me, what is wrong with you, never heard of a private message button? you interrupted thread that had nothing to do with what i drive. oh yea one morething if you live in the NY area, i would be happy to race you and show you what this 300 ft/lbs of torque can do.--peace

--sorry to rconcord for interrupting his thread with this shit.

to answer your question, no i havent heard of a private message. You didn't have to bite my head off geez. Enjoy your 302 lb ft of torque while it lasts cuz that ford wont last 5 years. Any car that takes 4.6 Liters to make that is shit. shit shit shit. LOL no matter how much HP you put into that thing, you wont even touch the 4s.
And it handles like a piece o shit, not surprising because it is one.

Spec V would definately take a new Si. one, the Spec has a lot more low end tourqe than the Si (ive test driven both and it was definately noticable). ive also heard the new Si is Slower than the 99-00 Si's, and just last week at the track i witnessed a STOCK Spec V take a 99 Si with i/e 3 out of 4 times, the only time the Si beat him, he ran a 15.3 while the Spec ran a 15.4. the Spec ran a best time of a 15.17 for the day. also, all the magazines rate the Spec V one of the fastest cars they test out of the '02 Si, VW GTi, Tiburoun, MP3, etc. while the Si ranks as one of the slowest in acceleration.

and whatever someone said about the bad reviews magazines are giving the Spec V, its only about the shifter feel (very rubbery) and the tourqe steer...not acceleration.

HAHAHAHAHAH ahhh HAHAHAHAH ahhhhhhhhhhhh HAHAHAHAHA!

I would like to see a honda civic make 302 lb ft torque ALL MOTOR.

: Oh and by the way 2002 mustangs get independent rear suspensions, and with MUCH bigger tires they can corner pretty damn good.

I ran one in my impreza AWD and it was close, but he finally took off in the straights.

later,

-justin
