Angry SI Stolen... What Now?

Hola, fellow honda heads.

Been a while since I've posted here, so I'll just dive right in. My car (00 SI) was stolen 11/7/07 from my parking spot, and recovered today completely stripped. They described it to me like this: no engine/transmission, hood, front bumper, grill, fenders, trunk lid, wheels, or any stitch of an interior. I haven't yet had a chance to see it because it is at a towing lot 100+ miles away. I just finished paying it off last month...... but now its been stolen and stripped...
I had full coverage on my car because it was not long ago that I paid off my loan.

I do not have any experience working with the insurance company when it comes to this situation. I dont really know what to expect as far as the amount I will receive to put towards my next car. The car was a 2000 black SI, lowered (HR springs and KYB gas shocks), tinted windows (drivers and passengers side plus back 3 windows), stereo plus sub and amp, and an intake. Besides a few interior cosmetics, stock SI spoiler, and those mods listed, it was stock with 137K on the original b16a2.

I was posting this thread to hopefully get some feedback on a few issues.

First: With the specifications I've listed about my car and the fact that I have full coverage (including theft) from AAA, what do you think I could expect to receive ($$$) for my car?

Second: Do insurance companies typically consider modifications an increase in value or decrease? If increase, which ones are worth mentioning?

Third: With the estimated amount I'll receive, how do you guys think I should invest it? Note: whatever I receive is what i have to work with, no more. practical solutions only please. im a poor college student with no job (at this point in time) and no heavy duty mechanical experience (i lowered my car with help from friends, but prolly cannot do my own engine swap).

I blue booked my car at $9k privite party purchase, $10k dealer sold. So hopefully I will receive a payment close to those values.

I've been thinking of possibly goin the less "please steal me" route and throwing my money towards something like a WRX.
But I'd never completely cross the H badge off my list... so im totally open for suggestions like 92 hatch plus b16/18c1 or 94+ GSR, but its gotta be w/in budget... Oh one more thing... I live in Cali, so please consider the laws.

I appreciate those of you who took the time to read this and respond. I feel for anyone out there who has had their baby snatched from them. im fucking pissed, to say the least.

please help me out here, i need some outside input.

Here is a pic of my car in the spot it was stolen from. Typically a full lot, just happened to take the pic on a lonely day.

much love,
-B

my cousin wrecked my jeep at the start of the year (the reason i got my sol) and they didnt give me any reembursment for the $1400 in receipts that i had rebuilding the front axle new brakes tires and tune up that i did two months before that they told me that typically they only reimburse for things such as a new engine or paint transmission etc. but since yours was stolen it could be different hopefully they will treat you right sorry to hear about your car

if u got full coverage then most likely they are gonna give u book value of the car. go to www.kbb.com and look up the value of it. thats what u can expect to get. u can tell ur insurance company u had added a few parts on and if u got the reciepts to prove it they might refund u for that too...but it all depends.

aftermarket mods depreciate the value of your car unless u have them seperately insured.

since it was stripped, the insurance company won't know. But sucks that you just paid it off and have it stolen/stripped. You'll get the book value or close to it. It'll be a good down payment on a new ride but the payments is gonna suck

Im not sure I understand the questoin... You want to know if you should invest your money, but all you mentioned was using money to buy a car. Cars arent really an investment...

really it depends on how much money you get...
if you are looking for a project car, then i would say older honda hatch, but if you are looking for something a little more daily driver friendly, maybe a nice sixth gen.

he also said something that is less likely to be stolen. Civics are stolen left and right due to the absurd resale value of honda engines

thats tru but some insurances might cover it...when my dads truck was totaled they not only gave him the value of it but they added in extras like the flip out tv with dvd player, and a few other extras he installed after the fact. i think they might have asked for reciepts but they still payed him.
