Skunk2 short shifter
i've had mine for almost 2 years and its not that great. its choppy, inconsistant, locks u out of gears at times, etc. anyone else w/ a skunk2 as long as i've had mine care to share opinions? i'm considering swapping it out for a B&M, but i'd like to know what other pieces to replace in order to have the absolute best shifter (i.e. linkage, etc?) thanks everyone

Do you aftermarket bushings? Alot of people have trouble with there short shifters because they do not get aftermarket bushings that makes it silky smooth.

i have a ek hatch, put a skunk2 in with the 440g knob, and i have energy sus. poly bushings, and the skunk2 did feel choppy. the placement (of the dual bend model) is nice, it feels ok, but hte effort is a little high. I had mine in for only a WEEK before the shit started popping out of gear. ive heard people say they ruin synchros, but i figured a company like skunk2 wouldve alleviated that prob. anyway, i took it out, fearing i would need another tranny (number 3) before long. back to stock, and it feels so nice. no effort, slightly longer thro, but its all gravy. i can shift faster too
just my 0.02 tho

most car shops have em, lots (around here, anyway) have em in stock. the bushing set is like $15, installs in 10 minutes with a 10mm bolt (for the tranny end of the stab bar) and two 14mm bolts (for the shifter end). check energy suspensions site or prothane ( i think they have one)

I got the double bend one, but am using a slim shift knob (polished and c/f). Will this not be good? and also, any good things on this. I researched and people like it. But now, I am thinking twice!!!! : :

I think the reason why people have bad experinces with short throw shifters is because they are not used to the short throw. I have one in my teg and it was hard at first. Now it's all gravy

Ok for skunk2 you can get teh ES Bushing kit, or any polyurethane bushing kit. $10-$15 and it makes the BIGGEST DIFFRENCE IN SMOOTHNESS. This one of the reasons why the neuspeed is so popular, because it comes with it's own bushign kit.

I purchased the double bend Skunk2 short shifter and also the full ES bushing kit. Throws are nice and precise and no problems so far after two months.
