smoke coming out at high speed

today, when i was driving down the freeway, my friends were behind me and according to the them, they saw a puff of smoke come out of my exhaust. they said it was either a grey or white color. my guess is that it happened when i was shifting to 5th. i redlined 4th before hitting 5th. is this normal? my exhaust is stock and the only engine mod i have is my AEM CAI intake. what is this?? thanks

You could be experiencing early stages of "blow by". But by the color of the smoke I doubt that. Blue is oil burning, white could be starvation, which means your car is leaning out on the top end.

How many miles? When was your last tune-up?

I had this problem and got it fixed by replacing the fuel filter and getting the injectors cleaned.

Blow By- the amount of cylinder pressure lost through worn piston rings. It can indicate a defective valvetrain or blown head gasket.

Meaning, when the a/f mixture is combusted there is a leak where some of this comes out of. It can be a worn valve, or a worn out piston ring. But being that your car is srill new I doubt that this is the problem.

You have to change your fuel filter, theres no cleaner for that. And you can also buy fuel treatment that would clean out your injectors. But Honda also has a injector cleaning service which is better.

As far as I know, all Si's with bolt on's blow out a little white cloud of smoke when shifting at 8 grand. It's normal most likely.

It's normal, just keep an eye on your oil level.

I believe that Regane Complete Fuel System Cleaner will do the trick.

I believe that it is produced by Gumout, and can be found at Pepboys.
