Question Test drove a 2002 Si Hatchback and WRX

Well I went in and drove a 02 Si. What do I think? The car feels wider, taller and heavier. Not much view through the window when making lane changes. The shifting was smotth as expected w/ a new car. The shifting position ???? well it's preference. The seats are nicely trimed and works well to keep you snug. The salesman was a younger guy .. he let me redline it in every gear .. in fact he encourage it. What do I think about the power .. I still like my 00 Si better .. mainly because the 02 Si revvs to 6500 RPM only and my 00 does 8,000 RPM ... no more buzzing in the engine .. rather smoother and quietier... I would definately wait for a type R or get a RSX-S.. If you've never had a engine redlining @ 8 or 9000 RPM then you are missing out...

Not impress w/ the WRX .. I drove the RS and WRX and the 2 felt the similiar to me .. and yes I did redline the car.. of course the WRX had a little more juice but it seemed right when the juice kicked in, it redlined ... if it had been winter then the story might have been different ... a WRX w/ a redline @ 9000 rpm .. now we are talking .. I say a bigger Turbo would do the WRX justice

Hey u live in the bay area? We should meet up I can show you what the old Si can do and you can compare it.

Everybody is saying the wRX is all that but that shit is AWD with a turbo : that shit better be fast. Not everyone buys a car for its performance which is why people buy the type-s and not the WRX. I dont care if that shit runs 10s from the factory I would not want to be seen in one. If you wanna talk about bang for the buck....10Gs invested in an si would make it run WRX times correct?

You guys need to meet up, race, and report back to this board. I'd be interested to hear the outcome. Personally, I find the launch on the new Si to be much quicker and useable than the previous Gens. I've driven 'em both, and it all comes down to preference. I do miss higher RPM's and the VTEC kicking in in my Gen 5 prelude, but I see more potential in the new Si. Also.....as always: looks are opinion.

I like thw WRX. nice car pretty quick and handles great, but the 36000 sticker price doesn't atract me to it. not enough car for the price. plus after the warrantee is all done and said for, if you need to get an alternator for it...your paying like 700 bucks for it cause i guess you can only get em from Subaru not from NAPA or like a Pepboys or something. put an extra 10 g's into a civic and you got a way faster car that hadles just as good if not better. thats my opinion

I would not want the guy in thw 02 civic Si to waste his time, money or gas . We both know what the outcome would be. I just wanted to invite him to a friendly ride in a great car

Chances are we will get the RSX Type R with 220 hp, but IMO we will never see a CTR. There is no way Honda will let a Civic compete with the RSX. The Euro CTR has 200 hp which is the same as our RSX-S. Since Acura is Honda's upscale division they would never let us see a Civic that has the same hp as the top of the line RSX-S.

WRX's handling and power is one of the best in car market right now. WHAT YOU TALKING ABOUT DAMN HONDA OWNERS!
bhahaha jkjkjkjk..
No flame, but i hate WRXs. They just look ugly to me. I love the turbo power, but its just not my taste.
and damn. fuck that 0-60 in 5.8 sec subaru commercial.
Anybody can smoke others with turbo. I wanna see that WRX without turbo. i bet even stock civic dx will smoke 'em.

and stock VS stock, 99-00 SIs should be slightly faster as even honda officials admitted its not faster than older SIs. Perhaps, just because of the looks, 99-00 SIs win!

WRX is looking better and better the more i look at it IMO, and may i say F@*K upscale honda...just because acura is "higher", they won't let us have the CTR
that's lame-o....no personal hating on acuras, but when it comes to the matter of CTR's not coming coz we got stoopid RSX, that's weak...what you guys think?
peace

hi, i have a 2002 civic si. only a month old and its already breaking-in. the ones at the dealership is new and if you test drive it, it wont be the same when it breaks in. also the new si revs at 6900 close to 7000... only 1100 rpm lost. it doesnt matter but the performance and acceleration is very quick and good. I think it is heavier but both Si's have their ups and downs. I like my new Si and planning to thorw in a Intake.. anyone kno a good intake for 2002 civic si and where can i fine one?
