Well I do not know what your definition of fast is, but the 2k2 Si are freeway maniacs. Due to bad stock tires they performed .1 sec worse or something than the last gen Sis...however as you can see they respond INCREDIBLY well to mods. As for suspension, every magazine publication says the handling has improved, I personally test-drove one and it felt a lot firmer than my SI, but I didn't take it out on crazy turns like magazine journalists do. Lastly, looks is subjective and is relative to the eye of the beholder. "Oh well they have some torque." - Buddy, FLAT TQ curves is what every Honda needs =)

I have heard nothing but good remarks about the new si's suspension and handling. If they are slow then the older Si's are also slow. Pretty much same speed.

Just my opinion. I drive one quite often considering my friend has one and it's just not a Honda IMO. It doesn't feel like it's "there" or "got it" If you look at www.modern-performance.com you can see the one I drive. It's good but it's not anything special at all. Once again this is my opinion. It seems even Honda makes mistakes. BTW whoever posted that it is OBD 3 is a moron because OBD 3 isn't available anywhere yet. It is still on the drawing boards and it's not going to be pretty. Didn't pay your registration on time or get that smog check? Guess what your car is rometely disabled from a satellite. That's just some of the horrors of the new system. If they get their way with it they will be able to track your cars movements and drive cycles so they can see what your doing at any given time. Sound crazy? That's what's coming down the pipe supposedly in the near future. I'll stick to OBD 1. Peace!

IMO, it's a good car. I saw one at the Autocross last week, he was about 2 seconds behind my time (running stock) and about 20 years older than I (not a regular either). Definitely has some potential.

If only Honda borrowed some styling from the BMW M-Coupe, then I'd be all over it!

Some ppl...you would be the type of person who lived back in the days, when everyone was finally proving that the world was round and you were just too stubborn with the proof lying in front of you. OK that was uncalled for but still...

If you look around the world, Europe in general, this Civic is doing extremely well, Europeans drive the current Civic SI hatch body as the normal civic, everyone drives the new hatch. Very welcomed around those areas, I can personally vouch that I've seen them in France and Amsterdam and most definitely around the UK. So I would not say it was a failure of Honda in any sense. Course the new Si was designed in the UK which explains the popularity.

In contrast, nobody likes the coupés at all over here[UK], I'm sure they[Europeans] feel the way YOU feel about the new hatch towards the coupés.

Dealers dropping the prices doesn't mean it's a bad car, it means it's just not well liked over in that area.

With dynos to prove the mere potential the new K series has, I don't understand why ppl are still so skeptic...have you even test driven the new SI, the TQ is so damn smooth, look at the dyno for goodness sake!

they weren't selling too well in atlanta at first, but now the dealers are running consistently in short supply.

It might have a bit to do with the good auto-x performances the si puts out, the SOLID freeway performance, and the gradually building aftermarket.

the k-series motors are honda's future. The ep3 and dc5 chassis are the bodies of the future.

the torque curve of this car is awesome. my baseline dyno hit 117ft-lb & 148whp.

http://personal.atl.bellsouth.net/~r...selinedyno.jpg

peak torque occurs early, and torque never dips below 90% of peak after 3000rpm.

I like the new Si, but I think the selling problem had to do with pricing. I personally wouldn't spend 20,000 for it. However, the current sale price of about $17,500 is a little more appealing.

You can butter it up all you want, but theres a reason prices just keep dropping and dropping $13-14k? They just keep getting lower and lower just go to ephatch and listen to em. The K20A3 is weak and theres nothing special about a 2744lb hatchback. Also the US is not the UK. The US embraces huge cars such as SUV's, why do you think the EM1 Coupe was so popular- we arent the UK and the majority dosn't like Hatchbacks, they like coupes. We'll see if 03 sales pick up due to the new Vivid Blue Pearl color, or if they'll just seep lower than they were in 02.
