Thought I was going to die today when my cruise control got stuck on!!!

2000 Civic Si, driving about 70mph... I set the cruise control and the car starts accelerating. I get to 80mph, bewildered, I turn the cc button off (nothing happens), then step on the brake (nothing happens). Going 90mph now and starting to freak out. Put the car in neutral, the car starts bangin off the rev limiter. Bah Bah Bah Bah Bah for about 45 seconds, then the cc finally lets off. WTF? Scary!

Does the Civic use a drive by wire for the throttle?

I do have a sticky gas pedal too. This week sometime I'm going to clean the throttle body and see what that does. Maybe it will cure both the "cc problem" and the sticky gas pedal... wouldn't that be awesome

Yeah, your throttle was stuck somehow.

That happened on my shitty oldsmobile POS. Try going 90 and hitting the rev limiter on that car, prob scarier than your civic, I didn't think the olds could hit 90, lol.

But make sure your throttle body is not sticking, clean it, make sure your throttle cable is still tight and make sure your pedal isnt sticky and clean it, should solve your problem. did for me.

Just cleaned my throttle body. My sticky gas pedal is gone now. My CEL light, however, is on now... anyone know what the deal might be?

did you unplug anything and start the car? check all connections; also, i'm not sure, but think on my old civic (97 ex) there were two sensors that had the same plug. maybe, iat and map or something like that. if everything looks good, disconnect negative battery terminal and then hold foot on brake for about 10 sec to reset the ecu.
