tricks to prevent CEL from coming on with TESTPIPE?

does anyone kno how to get rid of the CEL when putting on a testpipe? because someone told me that there are some tricks you could do to prevent it from coming back. like putting a bolt on the cat and tie the o2 sensor under the car and let it read the air from outside. the other way is getting a o2 simulator, which i dont kno what that is and how to make it. so does anyone who how to get rid of the CEL when putting on a testpipe? please help because i dont want to buy a ecu and have it chipped just because i want to get rid of the CEL.

take the light out of the dash

do you have 1 sensor in the test pipe?

I alwyas thought if you weld another bung hole
for the other 02 sensor you would be ok

So you would have 2 sensors in the test pipe

I'm not sure, most people just run with it on.

All cars made after Jan. 1, 1996 are required to have OBD2. OBD2 cars have two O2 sensors, one in the header and another in the cat (cars made before OBD2 only have an O2 sensor in the header). The one in the header let the ECU determine the A/F ratio when it is running in closed loop mode. The O2 sensor in the cat (a requirement of OBD2) lets the ECU know if the cat is working properly.

Your best bet when running a test pipe is to get a OS sensor simulator. They are only $40 and they have a CEL free guarantee. You can get one here http://www.importparts.com/importpar.../catalogs/1353

Talking

We installed a test pipe on my friends turbocharged Gti VR6 last december and we just wired the sensor back on top of the test-pipe. I personally thought that was ghetto and half assed, but the guy from ATP said to do it. Sure enough no CEL. So yes that method does work. Laters Bro.
