underdrive pulley kits..
Anyone have a set on their si? Is this a good upgrade for a 99 si? Kinda stump on wat i want to do next for my car. Trying to keep the motor internals stock and dont want to do nitrous. All motor and trying to keep most of the factory settings in place. Whats ur opinion on underdrive pulley kits?

My friend had a set (AEM Tru-Power Pullies) on his Type R and shortly after he installed them he wound up taking them off. He had two broken belts in the time frame he did have them on and swapped to stock after replacing the second belt. In his opinion they weren't worth it but he is the only one I know of that had a problem like that so if you are looking to spend that 150 bucks that's burning a hole in your pocket go ahead and pick some up. As far as going all motor on stock internals, you might want to reconsider that somewhat. If you are wanting more power than you already have, a set of cams and cam gears are your best investment on a all-motor setup. If you are wanting to stick with OEM Honda, you can always go with the ITR/CTR setup. You'll need to upgrade your valvetrain to a Type-R valvetrain but you should be just fine with that. I think you'll be pleased with that setup. Hope that helped. Laters.
I have the AEM ones and they are ok. I dont really know if I felt a HP gain but the engine seemed to rev better and my lights dim at idle . If I had to go back and do it again I dont think I would get them. L8

pulley
AEM pulleys aren't nothing. It is just the power steering and alternator pulley which doesn't free up a lot of power. Unorthodox pulleys will help but they are too expensive. I know a guy sells pulleys for the civic si. He sells a brand new brand called forum and the kit consists of three pulleys including the crank pulley which gives you the most power. He sold the set to me for $250.00 and I am sure he sell it to you. The high end power really change and I felt a very big difference.
I have the AEM pulley set and the car revved a bit quicker, but not noticeable. I would say it should be your last mod. I did it to gain every last hp for autocross.

Pulley kits ..
As far as pulley kits i already kno not to waste money on the power pulley kits. I dont see no point on wasting money on that. But i do kno that the underdrive pulley set is worth getting. I raced a 96 civic ex with the same mods as me in my 96 ex. He had the underdrive and he didnt need to down shift with me. But i just wanted some other opinions..thankx

A guy I know had the same prob with the underdrive pulley on his type-r (which incidentally was on boost and controlled by a haltech). This guy knows his stuff an explained the prob was the amt of rpm his car was putting out. On a stock sir the underdrive pulley is a good investment but the others mean no ac, no loud music, etc because the alternator will not be putting out enought to handle the electrics.
