V-TEC

v-tec runs off oil pressure right,so if you were running low on oil would the vtec not work????

I though it was a combination of oil temp and pressure..because when you start your engine that is when you have the highest oil pressure....but when your car isn't warmed up...you can't hit VTEC..so someone straighten out....

you are almost correct sir.

the engine does not have an oil temp sensor. however, there is a water temp sensor. vtec will not engage until the motor is sufficently warm as indicated by the coolant temp. Furthermore, in the event of low oil pressure, vtec will not engage.

Correct, and your car will run in 'safe mode' until the motor is warm, and you have sufficient oil pressure. You'll hit a fuel cut-off around 7200.....
