That's wrong. First of all, it's
VTEC ; "VTech" is a consumer electronics manufacturer. Second of all, unless you've done an engine swap, the '95 Civic Si uses the D16Z6 engine - which engages VTEC at 4800RPM with stock ECU settings.

Thanks for the spelling quiz. But my car seems to surge (vtec) around 5,800 and die off after 6,900. I wish it hit at 4,800. Then again I think my tach (factory) is off. Because, I tried to find fuel-cut and it revs past 7,400 and.....well I finally shift.

Agreed. My Y8 surges at around 5800, and not only that, but that's when you can hear the engagement.

Sorry buddy, but the D16Y8 is not the D16Z6.
y:
The Z6 engages VTEC at 4800RPM and redlines at 7200. The Y8 engages VTEC around 5200 I believe, and redlines at 6850.

Well DUH, the Y8 is not the Z6, but the VTEC on the Y8 does
NOT engage as early as 5200. But thanks for coming out, Mr. Expert.

So therefore, one would conclude that he was wrong - yet you "agreed" with him. Why?

Can't exactly prove it on here. But myself, along with other Y8 owning friends of mine notice it kick in at around 5800, in both sound (the changeover), and in speed. And yes, the stock tach is quite inaccurate, but not 600 rpm inaccurate. 5200 is far to early.
Unless of course, you can prove ME otherwise.
